I’ll admit that even as an introvert, I imagined having a big party for my 40th birthday where everyone was welcome, with live music and all the gut healing desserts, where we would all laugh and cry about all the crazy things we have enjoyed and endured so far on this journey. I’m pretty bummed my mom and sister have been quarantined in other states as I bid farewell to my 30’s. What I have decided I would like to do to make the most of these realities is to invite my super awesome yogini mom who has been teaching yoga for over 15 years to teach a Spring Renewal and Resurrection Rebirthday themed Yoga class over zoom with me and my family this sunday, and if you are a supporter on Patreon that means you! ( My own extensively workshopped definition of family is “navigating root chakra issues together” or “being bound together through fluids or finances” ) We will be dedicating the merits of our practice to personal and collective resilience, moving and stretching our bodies with intention of celebrating the return of the Goddess from the underworld, and praying and making offerings for the accompanying return of the flow of life-giving resources to the land and all her inhabitants. We will also offer prayers for the continued resurrection of beneficial earth honoring cultures of all of our ancestors, who knew how to cultivate and tend with the big picture in mind, and how acknowledging how these ways live on through us in moments of peak self acceptance and authenticity- We Are Our Ancestors Wildest Dreams! We will also be celebrating the release of our relative @tainostudies new EP * Wakiya* by beginning and ending our practice with music from this beautiful and important contribution to the work of reweaving our relatives are currently engaging in in empowering and exciting new ways. When I started Active Culture Family, it was because I was bursting with creative fire and clear that it was far too much to just be for me to enjoy or deal with. It felt like a resource, bigger, less personal, like new universes and new paradigms wanted to be born, and like I could choose to give myself to that process. The idea was to help activate my family who where creating beneficial culture. And, within the spell lay a warning. In chemistry, the catalyst often burns itself out in the process. The catalyst’s roll is to start things that will be someone else’s roll to maintain and someone else’s roll still to finish. We gathered this week online for Aries Party (recording available at Lavender level & up on Patreon) The 3rd slide here is just a little of what came through. The word catalyst didn't come up so I’ll speak it now. We chose not to delve into the shadow and challenges of Aries too deeply, but I will also name a big shadow of Aries Fire that really came to a head for us in 2020: burn out. And so the name has revealed more layers over time, and come to be more about finding the antidotes for burn out. And our Virgo Rising says: Nurture. Specifically the way that we as people have always nurtured ourselves with beneficial bacteria in the past. Gut health tells us that our body is not a battlefield, and when there are problems, we don't make war on the problems, we get to work bringing in more and more beneficial players. Just as the Wheel of the Year Is Fire Worship, and Celebrating all our Aries family, sisters and Lovers is Fire Worship, Devotional Sisterhood is Fire Worship. Each Samhain ( one of the indigenous Irish Fire Festivals that make up what is now for many considered an important time of worship for self identified Witches and Pagans ) for the past 4 years, been our time to sit in ceremony with a beloved teacher and true friend of my soul Ix Tzunun, Paula Garcia, a love expert, humble queen of self responsibility, always going within to sit at her own sacred purifying fire of transformation, ever endeavoring to more fully embody consciousness, truth, presence, Love, Love, Love above everything… As I consider just how many incredible Aries there are in my life, Her name comes now. I know her as as an accomplished yogini, one who sits in the fire, who embodies the fire, heals, nourishes, regenerates purifies, nurtures with fire, and that is a major part of what our path of living The Wheel of The Year teaches us. Sacred Fire Keeping, be that expressed outwardly or as more of an inner journey. To Paola- I feel you every time I am present with my breath, every time I sit in my own discomfort and feel the fire of the present moment and the light of consciousness burning away all the obstacles to unconditional love. I will feel you every time I stand at my hearth and warm a cup of Ix Cacao and ask Her to assist me in coming home to myself. We are all so very blessed to have known you, received your magic and medicine, sang and danced and laughed together as imperfect beings on planet earth. Your mindfulness teachings come through so strongly in every cup of cacao, and through your music, that has become an integral part of so many of our inner worlds, reminding us to breath, that we are sacred, that we are an old family, a new family, the same family stronger than before… Happy Birthday my sister from the stars, you are missed, loved, and cherished by so many❤️
