We live in a world where overindulgence has become the new norm. People carelessly spend their time, money, and energy on unnecessary things that provide no significant value in their lives and/or ultimately detract them from reaching their goals. Things like shoes/clothes, food/beverages, drugs/alcohol, and music/entertainment are a few to list— but one of the greatest markets in which people tend to overconsume in without even realizing it: social media.

Over the years, I’ve observed many people that spend all day scrolling through social media feeds yet never post anything. These people are often spending well upwards of 3 hours a day flooding their minds with meaningless content, allowing other people’s low-level thoughts and opinions to constantly take over their minds. Not only can this reduce one's ability to think for themselves and retain their originality, but it can easily drag them down into a deep pit of negative and unproductive thinking.

I share this with you because I’ve been there, done that. Most people still aren’t cognizant of the many dangers that exist within the social media world because they are stuck in this pit and are unaware they are being blindly led to their own mental demise. The reason I bring up this topic is because I want to help others climb up out of that pit. To do so, you must first become aware of the things you are allowing to repetitively pass through your mind. “Your mind is a garden— don’t be the person planting weeds in it.” Start consuming only the things that reinforce the positive qualities in yourself and push you forward in life— rather than hold you down. Start creating/producing more of which brings value and meaning— rather than scrolling away valuable time and energy.
