While eating bugs is a practice with a rich history across the world’s various cultures, very few Western societies are familiar with it today. For people who did not grow up with insects as normal ingredients, the wonderful world of eating bugs is a new discovery. Entomophagy - the practice of eating insects - will normally come up in the search results for anyone interested in topics like a) supplementing their daily diet with protein, vitamins, fiber; b) finding alternatives to meat for protein; c) combating global food insecurity; or d) the future of animal feed.

Scorpions - Little Land Lobsters. ????????????

????nDried, they have an herbal quality to them and a progressive medicinal/anise taste that has best been compared to raw vegetables. 

???? As some have a strong, bitter flavor they are commonly eaten with sweet chili sauce. 

???? Personally, I’ve found scorpions to range immensely in flavor. 

???? While my favorites have a stronger lobster quality to them, I’ve found most to have a taste a bit like salmon jerky or to have a briny quality to them. 

????Since the dried manchurians (another name for armor tailed scorpions) I’ve received have a slight chemical/medicinal taste. I’ve been told to add vanilla to these to add some harmony to the offbeat flavor. 

???? The texture of armor tailed scorpions is consistently reported to be one of the favorites - a pleasant chewiness.
