[LUNCH LOVE] Late light last lunch as flatmates with my @ariel_tanga during our “moving houses” weekend. .

[ABSolutely] Do I train to have abs? Yes and no. Of course I train to be fit and have a body that I like to live in (we have just this one body for all of our life!), but most of all I train to be healthy. .

If you asked me this question a couple of years ago I would have answered in a different way. My bodyfat percentage used to be 12% and I wanted to have THE perfect body, with no layer of fat to be seen anywhere. I was counting macros to the very gram, not enjoying cheat meals during the week, and getting obsessed if I put more weight on. I stoped having my period for 6 months. “It’s all for the abs”, I was saying. .

If you asked me this question 9 years ago, I would have answered “I train because I have to”, dragging myself after the office. .

Today I train because it makes me feel good. I don’t train every day because “I have to”, I train when I feel like and I train the way the body tells me. Because of my chronic hip flexors pain which is accompanying me it’s one year now, I also have to avoid specific exercises and don’t go for too stressful workouts. My Crossfit workouts are almost ancient memories (that’s how it all started in my own gym @crossmoreavr in Italy in 2015). .

Maybe I’m just getting older, but I want to train to feel my body healthy and strong, flexible and functional, but I also want to live and enjoy life, have fun on the weekend after the hard work or enjoy a random midnight pizza with my boyfriend. So I don’t mind if my bodyfat % is way higher now and if my abs are not as visible as they were once.

[LEG CURL MACHINE IS BUSY?] Well, you don’t need it. Try these two leg curl variations to work your hamstrings and glutes effectively:
1️⃣ Floor leg curl: use 2 pads or just a towel and try to raise your hips all the way up while you are pulling your knees to your back.
2️⃣ Ring Curl: place your heels inside the rings and use the same motion. Imagine you are doing a rotational movement with your knees down to the ground onto your back, don’t bend your hip flexors but raise your hips instead, otherwise you’ll be training them instead of glutes and hamstrings. I swear you won’t need 30kgs on your leg curls machine anymore. ?
