WELCOME TO 🌟50🌟!!

It’s my birthday and 10 years ago I wrote a blog post about my mid-life awakening when I turned 40. But most people don’t read blogs anymore for personal essays or reflections so I’ll share it all here.

I started in earnest on social media when I was 38 years old. In that time, I’ve created multiple blogs (some stuck, some didn’t), launched a few podcasts, and seen platforms come and go (anyone remember Meerkat?). And at the ripe old age of 50, I’m still here and now working on a voiceover career.

I hate the number. I hate that my hair is thinning and my waistline is expanding. I hate that wrinkles are settling in while my metabolism takes a vacation. But I also believe in perspective.

I’m thankful for my health and the gift of longevity. I’m thankful to be surrounded by a family that loves me even when I’m not the easiest person to love. I’m thankful for the world of social media that has allowed me incredible opportunities (A trip to Saudi Arabia! A night on the red carpet!). And I’m incredibly thankful that social media, for all its good and bad, has allowed me to connect with people like you all over the world and share in your lives as much as you share in mine.

To quote my favorite musical ever, “Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now.”

Here’s to all my fellow late bloomers, who approach life with wonder and a sense of humor. May you be blessed with 50 years and more! 🍸😘
