Happy 1/2 birthday to our guy Lasso! Because Lasso will be spending his 1st birthday with his incarcerated handlers, I thought we would double the celebration and celebrate his 1/2 birthday as well. Hard to believe our once tiny puppy is now 6 months old! Lasso is such a mature, calm, and thoughtful puppy. I’m so lucky to be one of his puppy raisers! I can’t wait to see what the next year of adventures together brings. Love ya Lassie ????????

The long awaited reunion, six months in the making. A few days ago I road tripped to California to say goodbye to Phil as he moves on to his next adventure. He greeted me in typical Phil fashion, full speed ahead and with a few of his famous hugs. It was all butt wags, wiggles, and kisses from there. This video shows some of the time we spent together and Phil showing off just a few of the things he learned while away. I will share more about our visit on my stories later this evening. I will always treasure the hours that I was able to spend with him this week, though it will never feel like enough. He is just as wonderful as I remember. With his paws in my lap and his big head resting in my palm, everything felt surreal. Saying goodbye felt a little more difficult this time around. I think I may just miss him forever. Phil, keep being unapologetically you. Until next time, my sweet sweet boy… ???? “Love you always, through the darkest days Heard the bad news, nothing we can’t get through The big unknown, who knows where we will go You’re all I need in this uncertainty And I’ll always be by your side”

Big changes for the little guy! Lasso is entering the prison program. I will be co-raising him with a team of incarcerated handlers. This program is a win-win situation for all! The handlers benefit from the love and dedication to their puppy and have a <5% recidivism rate for people that participate in the program. On the other hand, puppies raised in prison programs graduate at a 10% higher rate than those in traditional homes due to the talented handlers and dedicated training. Please wish him luck as he adjusts to his new routine. Don’t worry, Lasso will be back in a couple of months to continue his training with me! I will miss him greatly but am also so excited for him. The countdown to June begins. ⏳???? Questions about this program? Feel free to ask!

Gooooood morning from Lasso and I! If I’m being honest, daylight savings with a puppy is rough. We both definitely needed that extra hour of sleep so we will be having a lazy morning today. Photos are from Lasso’s first beach trip. It lasted approximately 3 minutes and consisted of him taking in all the sights and smells and getting fed while doing so. As a future service dog, being neutral to his environment is super important and working towards the goal of neutrality starts young. He did great! Check out our story for a glimpse into his reaction! Also, make sure to swipe for some classic head tilts from our guy. ????

Three years of learning and growth in my apprenticeship, dozens of lovely dogs I was lucky enough to train, and many wonderful clients worked with, and today I passed my final testing! The last six months were a whirlwind as I worked to meet the final requirements to become an ADI certified instructor. I couldn’t have done it without these six sweet, hardworking dogs. There were many moments of self doubt and stress over the past six months we spent together and not everything went to plan, but I’m so proud of what we accomplished together. The video below is just a glimpse of so many wonderful days spent learning beside one another as we prepared for testing. Here’s to our final couple of weeks together before they are off to team training!???? #ilovemyjob
