#butimnotarapper.. But seriously tho. I’ve been filled with such gratitude this whole year. To be able to sustain a music career as an indie is not easy. But y’all rocking with me makes it worth it! Even with me pivoting my sound and getting my music in TV/Film y’all have still shown support and given me permission to evolve.

I have big ambitions and it’s crazy cause I never used to really. The numbers are a blessing but who I’ve become is the process has been what I truly celebrate.

But I ask you, who are you becoming?

Everyone’s journey looks different (as it should) but I want to encourage everyone to swing for the fences and don’t play small.

If you have the capacity to live outstanding, then DONT SETTLE!

Don’t cheat us out of being inspired by your greatness.

We need you to thrive!

I sat in my car and cried right after I had just got off tour.

We hit some cities over the weekend, did amazing at the shows… I was on a high the whole tour run.

But when I got back home, reality hit BAD because it was back to my 9/5 grind and DEEP discouragement hit when I thought about the 40hr week ahead of me.

The pressure of feeling like a failure and imposter got super heavy.

Don’t get me wrong, I had a great job, and people who loved and supported me (which made me feel even more guilty) but I knew I just couldn’t be there anymore.

…But for the life of me I couldn’t figure how to really live out my potential. I had tried everything to get my music career going (shows, merch, playlisting, freelancing, side hustles, donating blood <—- this is not a lie lol.) but nothing really gave me something sustainable that would actually move the needle.

And that wasn’t the last time I had a good ole cry session????. I had many crying car rides listening to Mali Music “It’s Gonna Be Alright” lol.

That season taught me a lot though. It helped me grow in contentment, but more importantly how to get REALLY honest and clear with what I was afraid to say I wanted from my life.

In someways, I was right where I needed to be and some ways I was playing too small. And it’s hard to find that line sometimes.

All I know is the struggle gave me permission to say no to a lot of things that looked “successful” and rebuild. It’s part of the reason why started licensing my music. It was like the perfect fit I never knew existed.

I’m so passionate to see other indies win because I intimately know the struggle. Feeling like you have no control over your future and a slave to an algorithm.

I want to encourage you to know that there is hope. You’re not a failure. You have everything inside you that you need and untapped resources right around you.

It’s never too late to own your dreams. DON’T QUIT. Somebody needs your success story.
