Between chatting and charcuterie snacks we practiced a bunch of our favorites.

Tomorrow’s our last day? I can’t believe how fast this week went by and December seems to rush by the fastest. How do you make sure to enjoy the hustle and holidays without feeling the stress of it? Eustress (the good stress) and Distress (the not so good stress)  can go haywire during holidays. I tend to get so excited for all the fun and family time celebrating that I have to work to stay calm ????. I guess the hype of the holidays as a child never wore off and now add adulting to the mix it’s a lot of emotions to carry around. So I spend a lot of time in the hyper mode I live in typically but even more so. I know it’s not for too long so I will just enjoy the fun. Usually by December 26 I sleep more and rest better ????????‍♀️. This year I am not “going overboard” as suggested by loved ones. I think ???? it’s hard to gauge what that means. So I talked with my family asking them to give me at least 1 “thing” they enjoy about this time of year something we do together and that makes the priority list of how we will celebrate. So we will be doing keepsake ornament night (decorating the tree with keepsakes and taking tome to share memories of many of them), decorating gingerbread men & houses, coating pretzels ???? in chocolate ???? and peppermint and celebrating Christmas morning with our extended family. Anything else? It’s extra. That’s been determined by us all. So this will help me a lot. Of course I have many more ideas but it’s ok if we don’t get to them all ????. 

This is my share for day 5 instead of details of my sleep routine because most know my sleep is wacky: always has been and not for everyone but me ????. I don’t need much sleep in a session. Can’t sleep very long so I work sleep into the night and a nap in the day if my body craves it. 

Don’t worry though I have had sleep studies and the doctors agree I have NO trouble falling asleep it’s just staying asleep for long is the issue. I don’t take sleep meds because I never want my awareness hindered while sleep. Another topic too much for a post ????.

☀️ Good morning! ☀️ 

What a busy week! I am excited it’s December and we are starting our family traditions and brainstorming a few new ones. While I love traditions I also know sometimes there’s a change or shift: immediately necessary or things evolve over time. My Christmas 14 years ago was in the hospital on bedrest with my son in my belly and as much of my family around me to make that day feel as special as it always does. I still look at December 4 as the morning everything was ok and by night the vibe changed to unknown situations in a hospital bed with no clue that things would all be so different and difficult but with my family, friends and hospital staff they would make it easier to take on the upcoming challenges. Fast forward past the bedrest, emergency delivery and new life as a nicu mom of a 27 week preemie, then farther forward past all the therapies and assessments, to a life much less complicated now. Not totally, but a life I am so grateful for. No matter what, I know we are loved and together and at this moment healthy. 

I am so grateful! Adding reasons to my list of why I am so grateful :

???? My MIL had her scans after chemo and was ALL CLEAR! 

???? My mom’s partner (still) in the hospital but they finally know how to treat what’s making him ill. A solution to a problem is a start!

So many more new reasons but hard to think of them when I am celebrating these two ???????? and all the others on my gratitude list. 

Thank you for reading! I am so glad I decided to join the #sustainableingratitude yoga challenge this week. I needed the quick “distraction” & a reason to share positivity to stay uplifted while things were low or unknown.

Day 4 of #savvisharingiscaring: Inversion—Share your favorite way to hit the reset button mid-day. 

If I can nap I will. I ♥️ naps.  I only need a few minutes to feel refreshed. It’s a magical feeling I wish everyone can experience, but I know some cannot nap because they wake feeling more tired or can’t sleep later at night. 

If I can’t take a nap then the opposite works too: to get up and MOVE a lot or practice inversions like  headstands or if I am not somewhere I can stop drop and headstand ???? a forward fold works ok, but really the crown of my head needs input so headstands work best. 

If I have to sit somewhere when tired with no nap or opportunity to move or invert I find myself tapping my third eye or gently scratching my crown. 

So I guess my answer is gimme all the stimulus or none at all ????????‍♀️.

When you think you’re too busy for self-care that’s the exact moment you need it. 

It can be hard to carve out time for yourself. Sometimes even when you do you might carry guilt with you as you attend to your self-care. So this makes it more challenging to let go and be in the moment right? 

Like other habits and routines it takes practice and then you see the benefits and feel them too. Then you can see that it’s “worth” it and make it happen more often and part of a routine. 

What “mindfullness tools” do you use daily? 

I use:

???? alarms/reminders: I set a bunch! It’s the only way I can stop worrying I will forget to get to important things. 

Because when I am in the moment, I have no sense of time. ???? it’s true! Hyper-focus takes over and the only thing to get me back to other things is a reminder ????. 

????: I listen to music to stay focused. Sometimes an entire playlist or other times ONE song on REPEAT ????. 
Usually with headphones ???? on in public & at home if I need “space” when physical space is not available for me to focus on what I am working on. 

That’s really all I use. As long as my anxiety is low & I am dealing with low stress I can be in mindful and in the moment. So my daily goal is to keep my anxiety and stress low and yoga and exercise do this. 

See the circle of wellness ????????? I need to get well to be well to stay well…it’s a journey.
