Today is the start of Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Mental Illness Awareness Week takes place from October 3rd to October 9th , 2021.

National Depression Screening Day is October 7 and World Mental Health Day is October 10.

It’s important to constantly remind ourselves that as good as social media can be good for us in terms of connections , exposure, etc , it can also be damaging to our mental health once we start to compare our lives to those who only show a side they WANT to show.

So just a reminder that :

1. Social Media is NOT real
2. You have no idea what someone’s life is like behind the glamourous posts and flashy lifestyle
3. Just because someone doesn’t share their struggle , doesn’t mean they are not struggling
4. Unfollow accounts that bring you heartache
5. Unfollow people in real life who bring you heartache.
6. If you feel a sinking feeling In your stomach about someone or something , it’s probably real - stay away.
7. Stay close to people who make you feel like sunshine.
8. Stay close to people who feel like sunshine
9. Pray, meditate, exercise , call your loved ones
10. Don’t be afraid to say you’re not feeling OK.

I will try to curate my posts around mental health and everything I learnt over the past few years about the dangers of social and how to stay grounded when it gets overwhelming.

Look after yourselves kids.

Today I have been Granted the Golden UAE VISA as a UAE- based talent , athlete and content creator ???????????????? ????????

So here’s to another 10 years in the UAE except this time, there’s no stress, no anxiety, no fear of someone cancelling your visa abruptly as I’m now Self-Sponsored ????????????????

A) As a third -culture , Egyptian Kid, to expat parents , growing up in Kuwait with no solid stability because , “what will ever happen if my Dad loses his job” - I really , really really appreciate this initiative by the UAE government to give stability to residents if even only for another 10 years.

B) I don’t think I discuss this often but since I lost my Pharma job 5 years ago , it’s been an uphill climb.

Trying to make ends meet financially with no stable income , finding a sponsor , etc

Always feeling the fear of what could go wrong , to having your visa cancelled ,
To finding agencies that you can pay 10K aed to issue a one to two year visas ????????????

Finally a bit more relaxed as I take the leap into the next 10
Years calling @mydubai HOME AGAIN for the next 10 years.
