Pray. Eat. Style. Transition. The next few months of my life are all about shedding, evolution + transition. I am in some uncomfortable spaces and unfamiliar territory. I am planting myself in the weeds. Watering myself with a strong support network, affirmations, and hard work knowing that the other side of the transition is a life I’ve never experienced before. ?? ? @aqut

“Out of the night that covers me, black as the pit from pole to pole. I thank God for my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade. And yet the menace of the years finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how straight the gate, how charged with punishments the scroll. WE are the masters of our fate. WE are the captains of our souls.” ✊? ?: @travisdharrison

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Today, is my birthday. I’m grateful to see my Jesus Year and experience 33 years of life. The best gift I have right now is life and love and I appreciate them both immensely but that isn’t the big announcement. A few weeks ago I decided to do something bold and also something that challenged me. I wanted to do something filled with purpose. I moved back to NYC over a year ago because I wanted to be a part of something outside of myself. After sitting in my thoughts, I have decided to self-publish my first book. In partnership with my brother, @aqut, we are revitalizing @thenewstereotype. The New Stereotype (TNS) celebrates and highlights the many diverse layers of black life in America through fashion + photography. TNS: STORIES is a year-long story-telling journey that celebrates the lives of black men and women in their truest form. Each installment of the book, labeled a CHAPTER as an ode to the synopsis of each person’s personal story, serves as an interconnected thread to show how black men and women are both a powerful ballad individually yet an unspoken symphony in unison. The journey will conclude with a gallery exhibition in New York City with the launch of the editorial book featuring imagery photographed by @aqut. Featured in post: CHAPTER MARQUELLE, the first few images of the book. The hydrangea is a flower that represents friendship, a deep understanding and the giver’s gratefulness and appreciation. This book is my hydrangea to my people. I’m proud to be a black man and I am inspired by our continuous grace, grit, innovation, originality and perseverance. If interested in contributing to the project or know someone who should be featured, please send me an email or visit my site. I look forward to sharing my final bouquet of hydrangeas with the world next year! | Pray. Eat. Style. Publish.

“The soul knows the answers. The challenge is to silence the ego.” | This year is a major year for me. It’s my Jesus Year (33). With that said, deep in my heart there are things that have scared me. There are things I’ve been speaking about that I’ve pushed to the side. This year I’ll do those things. I’ll speak about them even if my voice shakes and I’ll walk toward them even if I walk slowly. Pray. Eat. Style. Move Mountains.

Pray. Eat. Style. GUCCI. I am super excited to announce that last month I was afforded the opportunity to take on the most exciting role in my career. I joined the Gucci team as the Merchandising Manager for Men’s Ready-to-Wear for North America. When I moved to New York City a little over 6 years ago after studying in the south of France, my goal was always to work for a major iconic luxury company. Sleeping on a couch for the first year of living here, seeing my account constantly in the negative, and struggling to survive made that dream seem so distant on more occasions than I care to remember. I took a leap in 2016 and moved abroad to the Middle East with hopes of strengthening my global experience and ultimately coming back to the city I loved so much to take on something even bigger. When I moved back to the United States after living abroad for nearly 3 years last summer, I told myself that I would do whatever it takes to make this dream come to fruition. I had a great life living abroad but I knew I wanted more. I came back to NYC with my ambitions higher than before and believing that I was capable of more than I ever have in my entire life. So, 6 years and 6 interviews later, I am here. A dream deferred but not denied! Thank you to my tribe of friends who encouraged me through the process and my mentor who always makes time to offer a bit of guidance. Lastly, thank you to @jamallp who thought of me when the role first came up back in August. Here is to a future of prosperity, hope, more fight, and many moments to remember, even when things seem tough, to be alive is a blessing and LIFE IS GUCCI! ???? ?: @travisdharrison
