The Pacific Northwest is truly a backpackers paradise! Daily views of Hood are a spectacular way to enjoy the trail - what a great first experience on this mini thru-hike. It’s hard to distill miles of moments into just a few slides, but enjoy a couple frames from a section of the PCT for @sierradesigns. Peek the last slide for backpacking insta vs backpacking reality ????

My first photo assignment was at the age of 15 when I loaded some Ilford B&W film into a Canon Elan and shot some photos for a local skate zine called ‘Paying in Pain’. Skateboarding is what got me into photography to begin with, and hot sweaty days shooting trick after trick take me back to the good ol days photographing my friends and spending my lunch money on film. Sharing some recent work with @arborskateboards - hot desert days and a rail that has definitely never seen a k-grind until now. In frame: your tax dollars hard at work, @shurikensjoint in the national park with the most consistent flip tricks I’ve ever seen.

Our planet is such a delight! Each February towards the end of the month, the sun is in the right place to perfectly back light Horsetail Falls during sunset. Even the large crowds gathered at the base of El Capitan couldn’t take away from the splendor of this natural phenomenon. I’ve been visiting Yosemite for all of my adult life now and I was finally able to catch this event for the first time! After some heavy cloud cover looked like it would threaten to block the sun rays, the clouds parted at just the right moment to let in the light for this phenomenon to occur. Our national parks are such special places and I hope we can all keep agreeing that these ancient wonders are worth protecting. What’s the most amazing natural phenomenon you’ve seen with your own eyes? Swipe for the entire scene ????????

We slept on the bow hammock of the ‘Sunluver’ catamaran while underway, below giant thunderheads and bursts of the most intense lightning I’ve seen. I hardly rested, getting pitched all night by storm swells, with wind swept salt spray stinging the face. Miles away in the distance, we slowly drifted towards the silhouette of the Pearl of The Antilles ????????

During a hard season of life, I’ve found a lot of beauty and safety in the sea. Strangely the mystery of the below offers a surprising amount of comfort. It’s World Water Day, and it’s strange that we need a reminder of the importance of taking care of our oceans, but here we are in 2021 where it’s easy to value convenience and disposable materials over sustainability and a healthy planet. It’s hard to feel like we can make a big difference ourselves, but it’s a good reminder that alone we’re a drop, together we’re an ocean.
