I was recently asked how I found my “calling” which is a very “Christian” term for purpose. I wrote about this in a short essay on my blog - link to that in stories.

I’m of the conviction our purpose shifts and change over time. I also ascribe to the thought of passions being honed. They’re born through trial, error, study and perseverance.
.
While we may have natural gifts we gravitate towards, callings and purposes are polished as we walk with Christ.
.
If you’re searching for yours my best advice is to stay in step with God. His leading is a flashlight, not a flood lamp.
.
Psalm 119:105 speaks to this it says “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” It then goes on to give us a formula to do so (don’t ya love that!) the Psalmist tells us to obey the Lord, keep waking in trust. If you’re searching for your passion, your calling - keep walking in trust that God will illuminate each step.

We skied, we ate, we spa’d (is that a word) and it was fabulous!

This was my first time to @grand_viewlodge and I will most definitely be back!! My Minnesota friends, have you been? If you haven’t - I could not recommend more! Such a blast!
.
Momma’s, it’s hard to get away. I get it. It can often feel like it’s more trouble than it’s worth to make it happen, but I assure you it’s worth it. Don’t let mom guilt (or mom pride) hold you back from cultivating relationships, friendships and ultimately, community.
.
I also think about what Mom stepping back for two days looks like to my daughters. I want them to see me trying something new (Skiing) trusting their amazing Dad to care for them, and to see me intentionally working on my friendships. They’re always watching and they absorb it all. ?
.
It takes intention, creativity and a village.
.

.
Side bar : this isn’t “self care” I’m not a huge fan of that phrase. This is basic community building, or it should be. Maybe it doesn’t look like a night away for you right now. Maybe it looks like calling a friend for a walk, maybe it looks like bringing a board game or puzzle to a location you feel comfortable in. Cultivating our relationships matter because it matters to God. Friends, God never intended for us to do life alone.

Go Cross Country Skiing in -12 weather and think that wasn’t too bad! Stayed nice and warm!! ?

A true Minnesotan knows there’s no bad weather, only bad gear! We bundled up and this crew all braved the elements and hit the trails today and honestly, it was great!!

I’m really enjoying Cross Country Skiing this year! Have you tried it?! I know Ski’s are hard to find right now! Downhill & CC!

The construction portion of our project is pretty much complete (minus a small bit of tile work) and I was so thankful to have @kurahome come out and not only clean our duct work (the dust you guys!!) but they checked out all our new appliances, cleaned out or dryer vent (like really cleaned them!) checked and changed all the batteries in our smoke detectors and more!!

@kurahome offers a wide range of home maintenance services and you can get on a maintenance schedule - they will come take care of all those tasks for you on a regular basis ??

It was so convenient! Plus, they’re a local company based right here in MN!
