This neonatal lemon shark was one of ~18 juveniles I saw daily earlier this year. After a few 'near misses' these guys would desperately hug the mangrove roots waiting for the water to rise (from low tide to high tide) to take them in deeper, to the 'safe zone' and away from major predators and threats. I witnessed this pup bolting through a few inches of water with its entire back out trying to get to safety, restless and relentless indeed.

Some animals are in it, together, for the long haul.
Some are completely loyal to only one partner staying together their entire lives forming strong bonds. Some defend and fight competing partners to the death, if needed to protect their soul mate. Some animals leave their partner for the majority of the year but then return for a romantic reunion with their one true love, to mate.. ❤️ Dolphins however are a lot less loyal. They regularly switch sexual partners, have been seen mating with their own family members, they gang rape and even interspecies mate and rape! oh and it's also been documented that the males enjoy penetrating another dolphins blow hole for 'fun' ?
Don't get me wrong, I love these unbelievably intelligent mammals and it's INCREDIBLE being in the water with them, but my god are they dirty buggers #understatement ?

There's nothing quite like sitting on the sand holding your breath waiting for a hammerhead to close in. You often sit waiting and abort your freedive due to the need to breath, but every so often the hammers approach and your urge to breath leaves you.. All freedivers know the key to a great dive is a variety of factors such as technique, physical limitations, ocean conditions etc. but slowing your heart rate down is the big one for me. When any big animal approaches my heart rate naturally plummets as I'm totally fixated in the moment and enjoy every second.. In that moment I totally forget I'm not one of them and I do in fact need to surface for air.. however, I soon realize that fact once they've passed!! ? For this shot I was practically lying on the bottom waiting and hoping for her to join me, and then she did!
