I’m extremely happy and proud to share that last year in the midst of the pandemic Attasha (my daughters mom) aka @true_artisan_82 and I got to realize and appreciate personal growth and maturity within each other, by working together to support community through #BlackFoodToronto.

This lead us to engage in series of uncomfortable but important, open and honest conversations that left me (us) vulnerable, but provided insight to the similar goals, wants and needs we shared.

2020 was a rough but interesting year. In my opinion being forced to slow down through isolation was a blessing in disguise. The downtime at the start of the pandemic allowed me to further explore what I wanted (needed) most in my life and future.

As I took time to evaluate our “new reality”, as well as my past. I realized my biggest priority was to have a FAMILY I could call my own and a partner to love, build and grow with.

With all that said, I am proud to share that we are committed to working hard to rebuilding our friendship, relationship and family. we both understand the work, patience and understanding required to move pass years of misguided anger, distrust and hate, as we continue to heal.

The time together and lessons learned so far have illustrated that #MarvinGaye was right when he said “only love can conquer hate.”

We continue to heal and work on ourselves as individuals, but now we also do so together ?? as a family.

...More to come ?

As many of you may know my Princess ?? is an amazing chef ??‍?(swipe left ⏪?) what you may not know is that throughout the covid19 lock down, she has been cooking and providing meals ???to her friends in an effort to encourage them to eat more healthy and better quality food.

“Not everyone has the time or know how to cook good food, and sometimes their parents are to busy”

As a result she been thinking about launching a meal delivery program, and it looks like the idea is starting to take off ????

Going home to discuss business ? and branding.

If you know of youth funding she can tap into to further explore this business idea please DM me ??

On this #internationalwomensday I would like to S/O another black woman who also happens to be a trailblazer in my family.

My mom #AnyikaTafari aka @vegan4you has been educating through an Africentric lens (forever), in the 90’s she Co-Founded Umoja Learning Circle (a private Afrocentric elementary school in Toronto, that taught kids to love themselves, their blackness and their African heritage, ancestry and culture.

Tafari is also the Co-Founder of @africanfoodbskt a Toronto based non profit that has been working to address #foodinsecurity affecting Toronto’s African, Caribbean Black Community for decades.

Tafari has impacted so many lives over the years and on this day I want to invite you all to help celebrate her and her contributions to uplifting “community”.

Even after closing Umoja Learning Circle, Tafari continued to educate and empower young people of African decent.

Tafari continues to support community through @africanfoodbskt’s #BlackFoodToronto emergency food initiative.

Excited to share that today @takethettc ?recognized my Grama ??#IrmaJames who was the #FirstBlack female Streetcar ? Operator.

“Irma was assigned to drive a streetcar when she got hired by the TTC in 1983. Back then, she was one of the few women, but the only Black woman, working as a Streetcar Operator.
Recalling her days as an operator, Irma remembers interacting with customers frequently –dealing with traffic, bad weather, and the feeling of frustration when customers didn’t pay their fare or “when you got short turned and customers were upset”. Still, she loved her job. “It was the best thing I ever did,” she said.”
