Eid Mubarak ???? I always feel super shy/nervous about sharing any parts of me on my feed, but I wanted to share and celebrate a part of my Pakistani identity on this day of Eid. It’s been a challenge to express my individuality - the more I conform to ‘white culture’, the more disintegrated my roots become. Maybe other people of color can relate to this, but I feel that we are often (covertly and overtly) taught that how accepted or deserving we’ll be is correlated with how comfortable white people are with what we look like and how we act. I’ve never felt like I belonged within any of my cultures or communities (not white enough or not brown enough), so I curated parts of my image and engaged in performative identity behaviors to create a sense of belonging and connection. In a sense, I’ve always feared that my wholeness would be rejected. But maybe sharing this in itself is a step towards anchoring myself in my identity. After all, this is a tale of a saturated pigment travelling thousands of miles in search for a tint ;)

A singularity.

What my work is aiming at, above all, is the pursuit of the inner, hidden reality - the very essence of objects in their own intrinsic fundamental nature. This is my only deep preoccupation.

Freedom for all.

Dedicating this one to people who continue to face opression resulting from imperialism, colonialism and apartheid. My brain can't compute how one group of people have the luxury to map out plans to build a hotel in space while others fight for basic human rights. My heart feels heavy today.
