Feeling blue we’re back home

...but I know a bunch of you going to Hawaii so here are 5 things to add in to your Maui itinerary:

1. Get shaved ice from @ululanishawaiianshavedice
2. Get coffee at VigiLatte in Lahaina. The Oat Milk Agave is 10/10. If you’re single, the barista there is really handsome and looks like a clean cut version of Bucky from Captain America. (My girls , Nhu and even @notmattish can confirm)
3. Head to Ka’anapali Beach and go swimming, cliff jumping, and snorkeling by Black Rock. You will see ton of sea turtles and colorful fish!
4. Do Road To Hana! I think this is something you have to do at least once!
5. If you’re in to hiking (I didn’t do this hike but Vincent and Nhu did and they loved it) check out Olivine Pools!

Don’t go chasing waterfalls unless you’re on @road2hana ✌?

Yesterday we spent 12 hours driving the Road to Hana and had such a great experience! We downloaded an app called @shakaguide which cost $15 on the App Store. It’s a GPS activated app that will give you directions to all the best stops, play island music, and gives you a little history of Hawaii. This app works offline which is so helpful since you won’t have cell service 90% of the time.

In case you missed my stories, I’m sharing 5 things we wish we knew before driving the #RoadToHanaMaui

1. Bring cash! There’s a bunch of local vendors you pass during the ride that don’t accept card. Stop by HALFWAY TO HANA for the best banana bread and NAHIKU CAFE for Lilikoi bars!

2. Wear shoes with good traction because some parts are muddy + slippery. Especially if you want closer shots with the waterfalls!

3. If you get car sick, try driving or sitting shot gun because the roads are suuuuper windy. I almost ? a few times!

4. Pack bug spray! There’s a TON of mosquitos and they will try to eat you alive!

5. Make advanced reservations to Black Sand Beach!! So bummed we missed out on this because they ran out of day passes so make advance reservations it costs $30!

In case you’re wondering, this photo was taken at #WailuaFalls

The most beautiful accessory I wear is my brown skin ??

I used to hide from the sun because growing up I was taught that being “MAITIM” (Tagalog word for dark skin tone) was ugly. I was gifted skin lightening soaps and lotions on my birthdays and holidays from friends and family to “help me fix this issue”.

The thing is I never even bothered to tell them how much this ruined my self esteem growing up. I know they had good intentions because these beauty standards were also passed down on to them. It took me decades of my life to unlearn these “ideals of Filipina beauty” and work on self acceptance.

Through my ongoing self love journey I can confidently say that you can’t let the opinions of others dictate how you feel about yourself. So just do what truly makes you happy and what makes you feel beautiful sis ?

Pours @crookandmarker Lime Margarita in to a glass once, starts calling herself a “Bartender”

Making margaritas in your kitchen can be messy, sticky, and really sugary. Trust me I’ve tried it and I’m never going back because @crookandmarker Lime Margarita is already the best tequila based cocktail in my book. It’s zero sugar, only 100 calories per can, and made with all organic ingredients. It’s the tastiest margarita blend on its own, but if you feel like getting creative it also serves as the perfect base. Check out my stories to see how @crookandmarker brings out my inner bartender!

Now through May 31, when you buy any Crook & Marker 8-pack, you can get a free Lime Margarita 8-pack!

Sorry I can’t make it, I have PLANTS this weekend ✌?

The crazy plant lady in me wants to propagate and bring home all of the plants out here in Hawaii. They’re so green and lush!! Also, I couldn’t decide between these three photos so I posted them all. Which one do you like the best? 1,2, or 3!?

@notmattish you’re my favorite musuBAE ?

We ate our way through Oahu! When we initially planned this trip, I left ALL of the itinerary planning to my friend @vncntcao. He did some major research so when we arrived to Oahu, all we had to do was tell him what we were craving and he immediately knew the best spots!

If you’re planning a trip to Oahu and have no idea where to go and what to try out, make sure you save this post for future references! Sharing with you a handful of my personal favorite food spots @vncntcao took us to:

1. @ono.seafood - Had the freshest poke bowls (I heard Foodland has great poke too but we unfortunately didn’t get to try)?
2. @konosnorthshore - For breakfast burritos (I recommend getting the Chuns) + milkshakes (get the Lava flow)?
3. @gionavanisshrimptruck - The line at this place was soooooo long was definitely worth the hype + wait! Get the scampi sauce. You won’t regret it! ?
4. @Rainbowdrivein - BEST LOCO MOCO I’ve ever had! The portions are large but the price is super reasonable. Also highly recommend getting the slush float! ?
5. @matsumotoshaveice - I have the biggest sweet tooth so this was 10/10! They have 30+ shaved ice flavors and you can choose up to 3! Matthew and I added a scoop of ice cream and mocha in to ours ?

As far as açaí bowls go, I’ve only had one from @islandvintagecoffee. I know a lot of you are from Hawaii or have visited before so share your FAVORITE açaí places on the comments!

I couldn’t even tell you how many times I ....

- passed up a cute fashion trend I wanted to try out but didn’t because I didn’t like how my body looked at the time.
- didn’t get the bottoms I wanted because I had to buy it in the next size up and I refused to be a larger size.
- was afraid to see the number when I stepped on the weighing scale.
- didn’t post a cute photo because my double chin was showing.
- compared my current body to the one that I had when I was 18.

The sad part was I used to think I was overweight when I was 18. I didn’t like my body then when I was at my lowest weight. I’m almost 30 and TBH I find myself giving less Fs and accepting and loving my body for what it is now. If you’ve been here for a while then you know accepting my body image and self love is something I’m constantly trying to work on. Proud to announce that I’m officially working with a therapist to speed up my self love process because I want to be obsessed with myself by the end of 2021 ✌??
