For me, rest deserves celebration. The tangible action that I’ve intentionally taken to achieve my goals has been a non-action - taking rest, asking for help, choosing ignore FOMO, sitting one out, sleeping.
Growth may not, and most like will not, always look or feel linear.

Most of my life, I have strived for the next thing before I’ve even completed the task at hand. I am always looking to do more: achieve more, see more things, go more places, finish more tasks, complete more goals. While I think I naturally have this trait in me, a huge part of it is that society tell us all of that = success. This has resulted in my self worth being 100% tied to what I accomplish.
What has given me access to self-compassion is the PAUSE. To take it one single day and task at a time. In the pause, I get to truly see what I have already accomplished, tell myself that in the moment I am OK, and then move forward into the next thing from that space of wholeness.

A few of my most happiest and feeling-alive moments have occurred when I am outside in nature, especially near the water.
That time I hung out on a sail boat on Lake Michigan for days with a few close friends, sun on my face, feeling so blissful.
That time on a train in the Scotland Highlands, looking out over the water, when I truly felt limitless.
That evening on the Gulf of Oman, surrounded by strangers that quickly became friends.
That weekend in Jamaica when I married the love of my life.
Something about the ocean, a lake, a water fall, a river, makes me feel so at peace. It doesn’t hurt if the ones I love most are right there along side me.

I’ve learned that this is my life and I am the one who gets to make the decisions, take the actions, do the things, live this life. I’ve also learned that I am the one to make a difference, especially if I am in a place where I can make a difference for someone else, it is my responsibility to do so.
I want to carry forward this inner knowing, trusting that I know what’s best for me, but also trusting that I know when you take appropriate action to support others.

As my fellow hosts have so eloquently stated, when my inner world is chaos, my outer environment feels all out of whack no matter where I look, and when I am in the midst of chaos, it’s so important for me to create practices that keep me grounded internally.
Similarly to how I answered yesterday’s prompt, it’s important for me to physically remove myself from a situation, if at all possible, even just for 5 minutes, to remind myself that I CAN create a sense of being grounded by changing a few things here and there in my surroundings.
This includes choosing to hang out with people who support me, see the best in me, and help me reach my goals.
This also includes being mindful of what I consume - books, tv, etc. - & intentionally consuming things that are new and that challenge me.
This also includes having grace because what I need in my environment that best supports my growth can change every day!
