Well, it’s update time. And, this is a hard one. On March 23, 2024, I had to say my final goodbye to Duke. My first dog of my own. The goodest boy. He came a long way from skinny shelter dog to chonky sunshine boy. Unfortunately, his heart couldn’t keep going. On February 3, he suddenly became very lethargic, bloated, and it took a lot of effort to breathe. The culprit? Dilated cardiomyopathy or DCM. I thought I was going to lose him that night, but the vet was able to drain the fluid around his heart and gave us 6 more weeks to love and spoil him until the fluid built back up. I miss your zoomies when you got to wear clothes of any sort. He was a fashionista at heart. I miss you turning into a baked potato the second it got warm out. I miss the tail wags every morning when I told you, “good morning sunshine.” I miss you turning into the heaviest weighted blanket every time I was sad. I miss your stompy dance and groans when you needed anything. I miss you always trying to be the best boy, even when things were scary. Goodbye my perfect cinnamon roll.
