15 years ago this week I attempted suicide. I was in such a hostile environment and being condemned to hell on a regular basis over something I truly hadn’t even been able to fully process yet. I believed those people. I believed I did not deserve happiness. It’s so crazy to look back and think that at the age of 19 I couldn’t go on, when really I hadn’t even started living. Now I live the most amazing, beautiful life in NYC surrounded by people who love and support the authentic me. On top of that, my career is to put LGBTQ and People of Color on mainstream platforms to share their stories and have a voice. I am living in my happiness and I deserve it. I earned it. If you know me in real life then you know that I do not have bad days. I’m always that person making sure everyone around feels loved and included because how we treat those around us matters. If you are going through something, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me any time. Whether we know each other personally or if we are just internet friends. You are absolutely not alone on your journey. But most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, be gentle with you. - Gabe
