Standout projects making waves around the web

I. Am. Exhausted. Like my whole body is really tired, but since the learning must go on, I don’t just lay in the bed. I set up a self-directed learning day, and THEN I go lay back down! ???????????????? On an independent learning day, I don’t teach and I don’t worry about what they’re learning since I choose good quality programs and activities. Below is a sample of what thag day can look like. I added Simply Piano to our routine about six weeks ago, and my honest opinion….I really like it. I would love for my children to take lessons with an instructor, but the real reality is, I don’t have the energy. The kids have learned a lot of songs, notes, and piano concepts so that really great for us! Click on the link in my bio to try out Simply Piano! Sample Schedule Reading ????: Read the next chapters in XYZ book Music ????: Take turns playing the piano with @hellosimplypiano Writing ????: Write in your journal Gym/Play: Anything but you can’t stop moving for more than a few minutes to take breaks ????????????????????‍♂️⚽️???????? Art ????????????‍????: Any Art video that produces good work Math ????: Games like 24, multiplication flashcards, coding robot, etc

Writing is hard work! Yes, it’s normal to have to help your child with every sentence. I made a book of biographies, my children will do one a week and by late spring they’ll be able to write a 5 paragraph biography without my help. It would even be good to do one a month - think about how much practice that is! Visit my bio to download!

My page isn’t about food, but little known fact I studied animal science in University. I promise you, don’t feed your family with any old meat from the grocery store. This is a good one. I know it’s more expensive, but here is one solution. Stop eating so much meat. If your meat budget for the week is $30, then buy $30 worth of good meat and stop eating so much meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I didn’t realize how much meat we as Americans eat until I became vegan (in my 20s). Meat for breakfast, meat for lunch, meat for dinner? That doesn’t really even seem natural or necessary. What’s wrong with oatmeal and a green smoothie for breakfast, and maybe you can have meat for breakfast every Sunday? Anyway, as I said, this page isn’t about food, but it is about families and children. And if you are conscious about your children’s health, I suggest you look into the meat industry. Also, this steak was $13, and I paired it with a potato and broccoli. So it cost less than a Cane’s Combo.

Frequently Asked Question: How do I find a homeschool ‘school’? First, let’s clarify - there are several types of programs designed for homeschoolers, and the terminology can vary. I will do another video on that later. But when people ask this question, they’re often looking for some sort of in person drop off program that will allow their children to gain independence or enrichment, take some of the educational lift off the parent, and give the parent time to get house or other work done. Steps I’d take to find a program if I were new to an area: 1. Get on local Facebook homeschool groups 2. Get on national Facebook homeschool groups 3. Check libraries for postings 4. Check meetup.com 5. Go to whatever group you find, even if you think you won’t like it. The best way to find programs are through WORD OF MOUTH, and the parents there can guide you to other programs 6. Check if your local homeschooling office or reviews know of any organizations/groups 7. Search TikTok/Instagram/ Google 8…. Form your own!

If your child doesn’t like writing (or even if they love it), try this for upper elementary and middle school students. I love Usborne books, and this one did not disappoint. Remember you may have to MAKE your child do it at first (if they don’t enjoy writing).

Had to re-upload because I kept saying infamous instead of famous. And the music was on the wrong volume. You would think it would just take a second to fix this mistake no. ???? Anyway I hope you visit this place. I also deleted my original caption so just check out their website for more information.

It’s not too cold, your children are just wearing the wrong thing! Stop putting them on cotton longjohns and get them some wool. They’ll be outside all winter! My kids stay out so long that I have to tell them to come in for a break. And even though some days are also windy, they are so warm they are taking off layers. Some of these brands are on the higher end so I always try to get a sale or get them on marketplace. Base layers - @smartwool Fleece jackets - The girls wore @patagonia for a while but we got @landsend last year and they’ve been warm enough Socks - @rei brand Boots - @keen @salomon now that their feet are bigger, and @vivobarefoot.kids which I didn’t buy for cold weather, but my youngest daughter said they are warm Waterproof Snow Pants - @burton and @columbia1938 Hats- they actually keep taking off their @smartwool hats because they are too warm, but I always have these or their @patagonia hats in my bag Why so many brands? I just find that some brands do certain things really well. Plus we are growing out of stuff left and right so a lot of our stuff these days comes from marketplace!

I don’t like that we have to register for camp so early, but alas it’s here. Luckily you’re seeing this post to remind you to do the following: 1. Email the camps and programs NOW to inquire about financial aid. 2. Also ask about discounts - maybe they have teacher or military or American Express card holder discounts. 3. Always call or email again if you don’t get a reply or a favorable reply. Don’t be pushy, just polite. “I’m checking to see if you all got any further funding for scholarships?” 4. Do stay on wait lists. Spots will and do open up! Especially this early. 5. Ask about payment plans - lots of places now allow this. You can start paying now and be paid up by summer. 6. Look for free options. Many organizations hold free week long camps.
