This morning we had to say goodbye to our beloved family member and best friend Sam I Am (aka: Sam, Sammy, Samuel, Sammerson, Potato, Sam Kitty). We adopted Sam back in 2015 when he was five (just a few months before we blended families together into this house). He has been a constant companion for the last ten years: hanging out in my office in his basket or snuggled in my lap while I worked, sleeping with his head tucked right up next to me in bed (either alongside me or curled around my head), following me around out in the yard while I did the things I do outside. He was always ready to snuggle on the lap of anyone who sat on the big brown couch. He was gentle and calm and a soothing presence for all of us throughout the various chapters over the last ten years. Sam was a very special cat - actually the best cat - and we will miss him every single day going forward.

My current new-to-me art play involves laying out a grid of washi tape and then just going for it adding paints and marks on top. It feels like magic when you pull the washi up at the end. I had a chance to play with the new @aliedwardsdesigninc Halloween stamps yesterday to create a fun hang-tag for the outside of my Halloween Memories album I made a couple years back (you can find a walkthrough of that on the blog or YouTube archives). I'm back on Substack today sharing some collected "story threads" from the past few weeks of this one wild + precious life. I've been taking my story thread lists from each month and flowing them into my monthly scrapbook and I'm loving collecting these little bits of life in this format this year. Link in profile. And this gorgeous sunflower is a ProCut White Lite. It's been a strange year for sunflowers in my yard too (dahlias also). Some did great and others didn't come up at all - they are usually really easy to grow. I love the creamy colors of this one.
