The Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza has officially opened, marking an important moment in cultural architecture. Designed by Heneghan Peng Architects, with exhibition design and scenography by ATELIER BRÜCKNER, the museum now presents the full burial treasure of Tutankhamun to the public for the first time. At the centre of the project is the 7,500 sqm Tutankhamun Gallery. Two parallel wings stretch 180 meters each and contain all 5,600 objects from the tomb, including about 3,000 pieces that have never been displayed before. A continuous black curatorial path anchors the exhibition, and the Path of the Sun above guides visitors through themes of life, death and the afterlife. The funerary mask sits at the emotional core of the gallery in a semi-open space with controlled lighting that enhances its presence. The wider museum includes the atrium with the eleven meter statue of Ramses II, the Grand Stairs showcasing pieces from different dynasties, and a dedicated Children’s Museum that introduces younger visitors to Egyptian culture. Finally got the chance to visit one of my long-time wishlist, @droolbakery, which located around neighborhood area at Darmo, Surabaya. Quite impressed with the aesthetic interior design in every corner, starting from the spacious seating area to the foyer in the middle with classic Korean architectural style. The pastry display area at the entrance looks really attractive and unique, serving variety of freshly baked pastries which are certainly delicious and recommended. The Cottage Rock designed by @engelbrechtnadine. ???? From rocky trails to eco-haven: A home built against all odds. With a challenging site this off-grid gem integrates reclaimed steel windows, stone-climbing walls, and environmentally friendly materials. "In order to preserve the large boulders of sedimentary sandstone dominating the terrain, the footprint of the house was kept to a minimum of 86m2 with bedrooms allocated in loft spaces. A tight budget and a sensitivity to nature enforced material choices including a selection of reclaimed steel windows, raw concrete floors and walls, stone, raw stock bricks and cement washed walls.
