These are Mungurrgurra Bees (aka Dawson's Burrowing Bees), one of @australia's largest native bees that can only be found in the Gascoyne region of @westernaustralia. These bees get their names as they build burrows into the ground instead of building hives, leaving little 'drill holes' in the land. They're so fascinating that @davidattenborough filmed a documentary on them! You can search for the bees and their burrows when you #WanderOutYonder to @carnarvonvisitorcentre, but the best way to learn about them is with a visit to ? @gwoonwardumia.⁠
