So many women have come to me after being told “all women think their periods are too heavy” when bringing these concerns to their doctor. But is blowing through boxes of pads or tampons each period is normal.  Though it’s what many of us have been led to believe, the answer is - HELL-to-the -NO!⁠

Heavy periods are not the way it’s supposed to be. Your cycle’s not supposed to be debilitating, make you anemic, or cause you misery. But get this: at least 50% of women struggle with heavy periods and for 1 in 6 of us, they’re severe enough to impact quality of life. Why is it so important to get a handle on heavy periods? Aside from the fact that they kind of suck for you (and your white pants!) they often mean something more is percolating below the surface - usually a hormone imbalance - but there are other reasons, too, like PCOS, anovulation, and even a bleeding disorder that’s not actually all that rare but is often missed.
