To give birth is not enough to make one a mother.
What makes one a mother is to undertake the greater task of raising a human being consciously. Like a loving and patient gardener investing innumerable hours into ensuring that we are cultivating a human being imbued with compassion, the capacity for critical thinking, rationality, insight, wisdom, humility, confidence, vulnerability and a spirit of service.
As inhabitants of a planet that is facing a severe ecological crisis, there is enough evidence proving that our cultural, economical and gender conflicts (to name a few), lie at the heart of the most serious causes of this crisis. Therefore, the responsibility of raising a generation of children who can recognize the connection between our environmental dislocation and our social problems, rests upon our shoulders. If we cannot engender a value for every human life, then there is little hope for nonhuman life.
So today as a mother, I thank all those mothers, fathers, caretakers and teachers who fastidiously invest in the future of what is our shared human legacy.

The scent of stars
The tidal force of the moon
The drunken kiss that will bloom
The blissful desire that swells
The nymphs who cast pleasure spells
The caverns into which the haunted flee

The desolate shores where dreams crash upon
The sky under which innocence breathes
The fire that rages through the last dance of lovers
The name that lingers on the lips like a dream

The lovemakers who exhausted, drowse in late afternoons
The amorous who arouse the wind and the sea
The farewell that haunts love and its season
The longing that retreats into the night to daydream

Of a fugitive from time

Inertia blooms
In the gulf of invisibility
Where age evanesces

?Sunkissed & fully vaccinated?

What a monumental day it was yesterday receiving my second Pfizer vaccine. My wild imaginings have conjured all sorts of fantastic possibilities of reality, but never ever the sight of a mass vaccination site in my lifetime…something out of a nightmarish sci-fi movie. Yet here we are.

It is difficult to adequately express what an emotional experience it has been receiving the vaccine, which is why I spent the day celebrating in reflective solitude under the blue sky with a bottle of perfectly chilled French white wine.
Yes, I cried when I got the first vaccine because I felt the weight of the world being lifted from my shoulders & I wanted to kiss the hands of every single scientist who worked tirelessly on these vaccines. And I felt so privileged that we in the US have access to it when majority of the world still does not.

Here’s to life…to all scientists, to healthcare workers, to everyone in the service industry who risked their lives everyday to keep our world afloat. A deep bow of respect for you all.

I finally feel the light coming out of this nightmare, like the warmth of the sun on my face & I am flooded with gratitude for it. May all those who did not survive this pandemic rest in peace ❤

For we have not yet lived all our possibilities

We know not what lies ahead
And death at any moment could interrupt it all
Bringing to an end everything we have committed ourselves to
Everything to which we have made a promise

This is the burden of absoluteness
