This vintage typewriter sits rests on an exact copy of Napoleon’s working desk in the study at Casa Loma. The beautiful Christmas tree in the background perfectly complements the walnut walls and marble fireplace. If you get a chance to visit, be sure to check out the hidden passageways behind the two narrow doors that flank the fireplace.

There are Christmas trees in almost every room of the castle, all decorated by renowned Canadian designers. Christmas at The Castle runs daily until December 30th, 2021.

We got to be a part of a Christmas Eve service that Wendy helped film at our church. For the second year in a row, this pre-recorded virtual service will be emailed out to the congregation and available on our church's website.

Wendy did a lot of work behind the scenes to research, install the hardware, and customize the A/V software to enable Walton to record its services.

The gifts are all wrapped and tucked under the tree. Looking forward to a relaxing evening with Wendy and the girls. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve!

I always loved playing pool when I was younger, and would often go to pool halls with my friends. I even bought my own pool cue so that I could be consistent in the cue I was using. In early October, I dusted off the old cue and joined a pool league. While I may not be the same player I was in my early 20s, I still love the game. The team I am on is very supportive, and will often give me tips to improve my game. It’s been fantastic getting out and socializing with my team, our opponents, and playing a game I love.

I am a sucker for good baklava. While I have had baklava from many places, not all have been ones I would go out of my way to get. It is rare to find really good baklava at a restaurant.

When you first walk in to Paramount Middle Eastern Kitchen on Yonge Street in Toronto, there is a glass display full of sweets, with handmade traditional baklawa at the forefront.

Wait… Baklava vs Baklawa? There is a difference!

Traditional Greek Baklava is made with phyllo dough, nuts, butter, lots of butter, and uses a honey-based syrup with some additional spices. It is generally quite sweet. Traditional Lebanese Baklawa is made with phyllo dough, butter, walnuts, sugar, a simple syrup mixture scented with orange blossom and rose waters. Baklawa has less filling than Baklava. And now you know!

The baklawa at Paramount Middle Eastern Kitchen is delicious! Sweet and flaky, with the signature scents of orange blossom and rose waters. It tastes just as good as it smells.

If you are in the Yonge and Dundas area in Toronto, stop in at Paramount Middle Eastern Kitchen on Yonge Street across from the Eaton Centre. Be sure to pick up some handmade traditional baklawa or freshly baked butter cookies. You won’t be disappointed!

We stopped in for lunch at Paramount Middle Eastern Kitchen on Yonge Street in Toronto. Wendy had this delicious Salted Caramel Coffee, and I had the Spiced Cranberry & Apple Cider. They really hit the spot on a brisk afternoon in Toronto!

Also on Paramount’s Winter Drink Menu is a Cranberry Cinnamon Lemonade and a yummy looking Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate. These festive beverages are sure to get you in the holiday spirit!
