Who’s excited for their kids to be back in school this year after such a long spring break? Or was the homeschool choice better for you?

The last time we sent our kids to school for a first day Scarlett was not around yet. This time, Scarlett cried. She was going to miss Max and didn’t want him to go. When Eliana got out of the car she cried too. This is gonna be hard. Scarletts friends are gonna be gone all day.

Max is so pumped about school, and I’m excited. After world schooling🌎 for two years, a change seemed in order. I feel it’s going to be so good for him. We may have lots of work ahead. But having time with teachers and friends daily will benefit him so much. The time at home will be more appreciated. This will be a great mix of home and school life.

Eliana is not excited about wearing a mask😷 to school. We told her, give it a few weeks and see how it goes. She is pumped to be doing 8th grade.📚 Every year she would be bored at school and not feel challenged enough. As we did homeschool last year, she did work across multiple grades. So we made the big decision to put her ahead a grade knowing that she will have to work hard. But she will thrive having a challenge.

TOP TEN U.S. DESTINATIONS #5 Yosemite National Park
Have you met a famous person that you thought was so cool? A few years back we watched the movie, 🖥🧗🏻‍♂️Free Solo with the kids and Max thought that @alexhonnold was so cool. How could he climb El Capitan with no ropes? 😬El Capitan is a rock face that is nearly 3,000 feet high, 🌄widely regarded as the most brutal challenge in rock climbing. At an Outdoor Convention a few weeks later Max had the opportunity to meet Alex! Getting a hat signed by him made Max's day. 👍🏻He still tells me it's his famous hat.

Tips for visiting Yosemite:
1. Check at the visitor center for the best hikes that are open.
2. Arrive early at the Yosemite Valley as it can get very crowded by 10:00 am and you may not find a parking spot.
3. You can hike the famous Half Dome but must be picked by a lottery to receive a permit. Cody paid the fee and entered but was not picked.
4. Now there is a reservation required to enter Yosemite because of Covid-19.

Yosemite is known for its Granite rock formations, majestic waterfalls, and grand meadows. With the park spanning over 1,200 square miles. The beauty is amazing to take in and wonder at.

I wanted to share a snippet into one of our hikes in Yosemite.
Turning the corner around the trail, we came to an opening.

Do you like to get outside with the family each weekend? Whenever we go on an adventure, I always think we should make a point every weekend.

We visited the Jacksonville Arboretum Gardens over the weekend and had a fun time. Originally we planned to go paddleboarding to an Island, but the wind was 20 mph. Hopefully, next weekend. But back to the gardens. They were a great way to get outside and enjoy natural Florida. Florida is known for its white-sand beaches and access to water. But in the middle of the state, there is also a lot to offer as well. At the Arboretum, along the trails, plants and trees are labeled with signs. We learned the names of some new plants and confirmed a few as well.

There are seven separate trails, but a few are short. Combining a few is great to see a variety of plants and trees. The Lake Loop trail wraps around the lake, providing changing views of Lake Ray.

Tips for visiting Arboretum & hiking with kids:

•Bring snacks or pack a picnic. My kids always enjoy having something to munch on when we finish a hike. There is an area set up with picnic tables near the entrance, under the trees.
•It's free to enter, but they do request donations to help pay for maintenance and operations.
•Wear walking or hiking shoes as the trails are great to walk along.
•Play the get you game. Scarlett walked and ran a good part of the trail as we played, I'm gonna get you.
•Bring water as its refreshing and rejuvenating.
•Know that hiking with kids takes time and let them stop and appreciate the things they find.
•Bringing kids on hikes and outdoors, boost their confidence and independence. Inspiring them to discover things out of thier ordinary environment.
