Spring cleaning? You missed a spot. ? #DailyArtFix⁣ ⁣ Raise your hand if you've ever seen this painting in person and had the strong desire to "dust" it off. ? Artist N. C. Wyeth sent this work off to the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts for their fall exhibition in 1926. A local newspaper reported at the time how "it was amusing yesterday afternoon to watch various ones approach the picture with intentions of dusting the canvas and then discover the 'dust' had been painted." ⁣ ⁣ #NCWyeth #Wyeth #TrompeLOeil #ArtInTheTimeOfCorona #MuseumMomentOfZen #DailyArt #BrandywineRiverMuseumOfArt #MuseumFromHome #BrandywineAtHome⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ?: N. Basking in the calming beauty of twilight. #DailyArtFix⁣ ⁣ Created as part of a 2015 exhibition at the Brandywine, this digitally manipulated photograph by artist @jamescwelling shares a title and composition with a 1970 painting by Andrew Wyeth. In both the photograph by Welling and the painting by Wyeth, the Kuerner Farm in Chadds Ford is depicted in the twilight hours, and in each, a single window is illuminated. ⁣ ⁣ You can learn more about the inhabitants of Kuerner Farm, and other close friends that Andrew Wyeth painted, during our next virtual gallery talk with the artist's granddaughter, Victoria Wyeth, on May 17 & 18. This month @victoriabrowningwyeth will share insight into Wyeth’s penetrating and detailed depictions of his neighbors, including childhood friend David Lawrence and local farmers Adam Johnson and Karl Kuerner. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Register at brandywine.org/events (or click our #LinkInBio and select the "Virtual Events" category).⁣⁣ ⁣ #AndrewWyeth #Wyeth #JamesWelling #KuernerFarm #ArtInTheTimeOfCorona #MuseumMomentOfZen #BrandywineRiverMuseumOfArt #MuseumFromHome #BrandywineAtHome⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ?: James Welling (b. 1951), Evening at Kuerners, 2010, archival inkjet print on rag paper. © James Welling. collections.brandywine.org
