Happy Halloween! Brilliant weekend in London that was kicked off with a wonderful shindig organised by @lottiegotcake with some bake off bakers past and present. Thanks too to the folks at @breadaheadbakery for hosting and all the *outrageously* delicious pizzas in their Wembley bakery ???????????????? . . A truly bonkers evening which included dancing to George Michael as a flamingo with @lizzieacker_ . In hindsight I was lucky these trousers didn’t split open. . . The face of man enjoying a thirst-quenching Caipirinha before mountain-biking up a volcano. Delicious. I’m back from a delightfully carb-filled week away in Fuertaventura with my pal Jon. Plenty of tapas, sun and activities ???? . The original plan for the week was to learn how to kitesurf, and although my beach session went well, I was sick as a dog for the boat session on the water ???? I made the choice to change to wingfoil and enjoyed a few lessons, but have vowed to return to a lagoon-based school in future to continue the kiting: flat water and high wind is the dream for my delicate sea legs ???? . Very grateful to be able to travel safely, and am thankful everything has gone smoothly with all the tests and admin required. On the home strait with work now towards Christmas after getting through a few bottles of Factor 50 ???? . It’s been a weird old year so am sending good vibes your way on the run-up to the festive season. You’ve got this! Feeling continental this evening: Mocha biscotti and orange madeleines. They sit at opposite ends of the consumption spectrum; madeleines best enjoyed fresh or within a few days reheated (serving them warm is practically mandatory) whereas the biscotti will last for *ages*, ready to be mercilessly dunked at a moment’s notice. Had the pleasure of teaching these at a new @bakewithalegend class this evening, also discussing some behind the scenes secrets for both bake off *and* @bakingimpossible ! . . Honestly I’m feeling very grateful at the moment, loving hearing from people from all walks of life, countries and family units about their enjoyment of the show. It’s particularly lovely that it seems to be really popular with kids, my not so secret mission to encourage younger kids to consider engineering and shift some stereotypes is hopefully paying dividends. #Ad These are the kind of shots i would never normally be able to get at home whilst I’m in the middle of baking something. Who doesn’t lick the extra lime curd off their palette knife? ???? . The clever folks at @canonuk have made the PowerShot PX, it’s like having your own personal photographer in the kitchen. “Pixie” is a doddle to set up, and once going she’ll track my face around the kitchen, composing photos and video clips and recommending the best ones for me to download to my phone or tablet at the end. . Me and my best friend: the Bake Quake Box. With great power comes great destructibility ???? As featured in episode 6 of @bakingimpossible , but I will avoid any spoilers ???? The bake quake was one of the first challenges we devised for the series and seeing it come to life made me giddy. Our teams, WOW, their creativity blew me away. Second photo is the most insane piece of sugar work I’ve ever seen: a 5 foot long isomalt staff, as seen in episode 5. . I’m pretty overwhelmed by the support the series has gotten so far, thank you so much to everyone who has streamed it, sent messages of support and shared it round. We’ve left you on a cliffhanger but the final 2 episodes are released this Wednesday. Who are you rooting for? What’s been your favourite mission so far? . . I’m very proud of every single engineer and baker we had in the competition. We are throwing *wild* challenges at them and they were all so courageous and hardworking to take part, they are all pioneers. #AD I am feeling suitably festive after a great day with @canonUK baking up a storm with their #CanonPowerShotPX . Whilst making our Yule logs, it intelligently composed photographs, videos, can track around a room full of people and capture candid shots! It also recommends the best shots at the end, ideal for baking or big get togethers. You can just set it up, forget about it and enjoy the photos after.
