… at least that’s what I tell myself every time I’m working on a new gold painting. The reflective quality of the paint really is a pain the butt for my eyes. It’s just impossible to really get an idea of how the painting is turning out unless I stand back and change lighting and walk around it. But it’s always worth it in the end. Time lapse of one of my favorite (slightly) spooky pieces of artwork that I’ve made. I say slightly because I originally made this as part of my Halloween series of art but honestly the end result doesn’t really feel spooky at all. It feels more like it’s about a contrast between a soft moment shown in the reflection of the knives VS the sharp, pointy edges of the knives. I love how it turned out!

This painting is now on my shop and the price has dropped by $1k! Last year I priced this one a little high because I loved it so much and wanted to keep it at my house for a little bit longer. VERY IMPORTANT POLL (I mean not in the grand scheme of things but you know what I mean): which spooky drawing series should I make sure to continue this year. For context I typically start making spooky art in mid August for the season so people can buy them and have prints by October, however this year I’m really behind because I’ve been on vacation for the last month. So the options are “Split” the body split open ones with the skeleton showing beneath; the knife reflection series; the smoke series; or skeleton hands (idk I’ve never really considered this a series tbh but I see the pattern). Let me know and I’ll make sure to draw at least one of the winner in the poll!
