Nothing Really Mattress
What do our mattresses mean within the current health crisis? Some of us are in hospital beds while others are at home looking forward to safe, touch-free days when we keep drinking coffee and try to stay calm. While in mobile societies we are asked to keep washing our hands and stay self-isolated, either common slots sink into oblivion or turn into misanthropic territories. We are all confused, looking for ways to survive and to keep existing on our mattresses, where we discover our new selves and concentrate on our safe spaces and loved ones.
Nothing Really Mattress was my performance piece with Panicattack Duo conceived for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018. The mattress was a way to display and house art and invite other artists to exhibit, opening a door for other voices as non-violent resistance to the selected nature of the exhibition.

Today we’re supporting the launch of ‘Earth perspectives’, Read More

It’s #EarthDay! Twelfth-Century Christian mystic Hildegarde Von Bingen was an ecological thinker – she understood the universe as an entity, each part penetrated by the essence of the whole and saw a radiance in creation: the cycle of the seasons, the sprouting of seeds, and the blossoming of plants. She called this verdant fecundity Veriditas, a ‘greening’ of the planet that is infused with a spiritual principle and healing potential that can bring about planetary attunement. On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Von Bingen’s writing, music and art continues to inspire a new generation of artists, a number of whom are included in Camden Arts Centre’s forthcoming exhibition and online project The Botanical Mind: Art, Mysticism and The Cosmic Tree. 900 years on, her medieval cosmology feels as relevant as ever – an amalgamation of science, mysticism and art that she believed held the potential to awaken humanity to the mysterious truths of the universe.
