What am I gonna do? ????️????️????️ She was my soul dog and now she’s gone. “It is both a blessing and a curse to love something that death can touch.” The hollow hole in our hearts feels unbearable right now but knowing she is flying free gives us some relief for sure. She knew how immensely loved she was until her last breath and this makes it all better. As do your endless messages of support. I know if you’ve followed me for the last ten years she brightened your day too. She touched so many! To every care giver, dog walker, pet sitter, groomer, feeding time helper, friend and family member - thank you. And thank you, Rhys, for one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. Your huge heart rescued her from harm in September 2014 and it would forever change us all. And thank you My Love, Greg, for giving her the best final months she could have ever dreamed of. Having you hold me while I held her yesterday… well, shit, I’m crying again. Scarlett Johansson O’Hara we are forever connected and I’m still looking into those dark soulful eyes in my mind. Another trip back to my alma mater this time for Parent’s Weekend. A much anticipated visit to see my son Arion, who is a junior at Indiana University. (Austin made the trip too!) The amount of sheer joy that oozed through my body over the last several days won’t fit into this caption but what I will say about the four quarters when the Hoosiers absolutely annihilated Illinois is this: it’s more than a game. I was with my dear friend, who had never been to a formal football game in her life. She could not get over the thrill of it all. She said, “Isn’t it funny - they’re just moving a ball up and down the field when you think about it.” All of this fan fare and excitement, for that? In a time when most Americans are frustrated, divided, and depleted from the state of things, there was a moment in the middle of the game when I looked around and registered a profound energy of unity and oneness and elation. Sure, most of the 50,000+ of us were rooting for the same team but beyond that who knows the religion, politics, or beliefs of my neighbors in seat 104 or 105. Okay, so it was fleeting, but I just want to acknowledge the power of sports. Maybe a momentary escape for fans but a necessary one! Good for the soul. And I am incredibly grateful! Thank you @indianafootball @iubloomington @iuhoosiers for giving us something to believe in. Drinking alcohol has been in my blood and the generations before me for I’m not sure how long. It’s been a staple and social accessory of mine for as long as I can remember. As part of my ongoing personal growth and evolution, not to mention the spiritual nudges I continue to receive, I’m sincerely assessing the power, the grip that this - let’s face it - “drug” has on my life. It’s not all bad and God yes it’s definitely served as some of the most fun and electric times in my life. But what if? What if I stopped reaching for it? Not gonna lie it feels vulnerable to share this part of myself with you guys. I’m not trying to be a hero and I’m not gonna wait until a year from now to tell you what I’ve been doing. Maybe I’ll just take you with me along the way. 39 days today without a drink. I’m not labeling myself a non-drinker. I’m just on a journey. An experiment of sorts. Maybe you can relate? I do it to explore the depths of myself and to perhaps become the highest version of myself, but I also choose this for those that I love the most. My boys deserve every part of me for the remainder of my time on this planet. And it just feels like I’ll be able to give them that if I turn the page. I’d love to hear about your own experiences. I think when we share our stories in this way, we feel supported. ✨✨✨
