Today I had the privilege of previewing the new Mark Rothko Pavilion at the Portland Art Museum. The opening celebration is this coming Thursday, November 20 and the museum is free throughout that whole weekend. I highly recommend you go online and reserve your tickets. It’s going to be an incredible experience. What this update is going to do for the art world in our wonderful city, I can’t even fathom yet. It was such an honor to see all of the care and love that has gone into creating this space for us all to enjoy. On an absolutely stunning autumn afternoon in Maine, I had the pleasure of taking a basket weaving workshop from @erinjennie of @underwater_weaving and her mom. Her dad cooked the most delicious seafood chowder, we drank apple cider and @aplos.world mocktails, a warm breeze blew through the gorgeous barn we gathered in and the whole experience was a delight of senses. I was deeply moved by the family affair of it all, multiple generations bringing together their love of craft. Palomino joined the process and immediately made best friends with Erin and her aunt and others too. The magic of it all was that it was completely unplanned. We have been in CT with my mom who is going through chemo and I had a nudge, a strong one, to go on a road trip to Maine. Mom agreed, I changed our flights and 3 generations hopped in the car. I asked my friend @anne_parker for some recs, and @thepost.supply was one of them. I’ve actually been following them for years and when I went to their site I saw that in only a few days this @underwater_weaving workshop was happening… @erinjennie and I connected and here we are. I’ve been feeling creatively stuck and unsure for so long, but this experience was a 100% full body yes, a@d I have a feeling more weaving together is in the near future for us all. #communityisresistance #woventogether #underwaterweaving #creativewomenconnect #thevelvetyes

We’ve been spending a lot of time in the backyard this summer, growing flowers and playing in an art tent. We are also huge fans of water and on some of these hot Portland days we took respite from the high temps in this outdoor pool from @mylleshop A women owned business from Seattle. These folks are making some stylish outdoor pools with fun prints and with a sustainable ethos. our whole backyard is covered in bark chips and so it was great that they had a thick mat that we could put underneath the pool to keep it lasting longer. #mylleshop

A pink kissed date night. Loving the best we can each day. We met some friends in Multnomah village for dinner and afterwards felt compelled to wander. The night was balmy breezy. Petal pink. We wandered into the Multnomah arts center where I attended school at the Waldorf school in 2nd grade in the 90’s We saw some art, walked through the cute little strip of town, and while taking a selfie in front of these roses a nice lady who was out for a run offered to snap some photos. I love the blurry ones best. They really capture how it felt to stand under the pink roses under the blushing sky. It was a truly delightful wander of a night. Our conversations meandered to so many places and as we come upon 14 years of being together next month I am filled with gratitude for the expansion and support and deep love shared with this wonderful man.

I love these two more than anything else in the world. Through the 3 years of parenting our daughter, I’ve gotten to know more play, curiosity snd tenderness and you, my love, help me slow down to experience it more fully. Also parenting has been hard on us, but you keep showing up with courage and love to meet me in the dark. Thank you. ???????? Yesterday I was feeling a little bit down, and when my friend Tracey reached out and invited me last minute to a breath work sound bath dinner party, it was as if she had read my secret prayers that I haven’t even put out into the world. I was supposed to go camping for the night with my family, but when I really listened to my intuition, I realized that what my heart truly needed was to connect with a group of like-minded women and take time to nourish and be still with myself. I was so grateful for this beautiful invitation and to be surrounded by so many wise and loving women. thank you to @iammelaniemeherin for hosting and creating this magical afternoon for us all.
