An icon, a Black feminist author, and a woman who genuinely changed my life passed away today. One of my best friends introduced me to bell hooks and her book, “The Will To Change” challenged, comforted, and changed me. I am one of so many who will forever be grateful for the ripple effect that her work—her words—has had on my life.

I hope you will join me in honoring her life by reading one of her incredible books.

I’m learning to be more kind and gentle with myself these days. It’s not easy but it’s working.

I’ve been really struggling with motivation to move my body these last few years. Today Maxwell wanted to hitch a ride up the mountain and got me up and moving which I needed so bad.

Wish I could say we hiked for hours, but with 40 lbs on my back and having barely moved for (years) I’ll take that 20 minute walk up our driveway as a win!
