Hidden in Bali’s northwest, is a place only a small fraction of visitors ever end up. It was my second time staying at @sumberkimahill and the hospitality and service are amazing. Yes it takes many hours to get there, but to me it’s MORE than worth it to watch the sun set behind huge volcanos and to freedive in vibrant coral gardens. ☺️ I personally love that it’s still a little rough around the edges. That the roads aren’t perfect. That the school kids still get super excited when you drive past them. This is not a place for people who love nightlife, parties, going to a different cafe everyday, are wanting to see and be seen, or want to surf. But you love quiet spaces, have an appreciation for local culture, and being in awe of nature (yet still being comfortable) you might fall in love with Sumberkima too. ????Comment “Stay” and I’ll send you my mini guide including my itinerary, activities I loved and one I would skip, and some tips on choosing between their villas :)????

As someone who loves to do alll the things and not “waste” a moment of this precious life I would often find myself rushing. I kept adding more things to my schedule thinking if I get more done, if I’m more efficient, more optimized with my time - I’ll feel more at peace. Instead the treadmill went faster and faster. Until I read this book called 4000 weeks: Time Management for Mortals. In it he argues that our soberingly limited time on earth—around 4,000 weeks—means that we won’t have time to accomplish all of the things that we want to do and we’re better off living more fully in the moment rather than try to cram more tasks into our days. “Once you no longer need to convince yourself that you’ll do everything that needs doing, you’re free to focus on doing a few things that count.” I’ve been slowly changing my relationship to time. I will ALWAYS pedal fast for a good sunset☺️ But I’ll also be practicing a bit more Yutori - a life of spaciousness and conscious savoring - in my day to day existence. Who knows maybe one day I’ll be.. early?! ????Concept originally explained by Naomi Shihab Nye in a podcast with Krista Tippet (On Being Podcast) ???? clips by @samkolder + @piersonx

Walking on sunshine????Just landed in Tulum to be part of my friend Josiah’s book project. It’s hard to comprehend how many hours we’ve spent together underwater over the years. We both crave making things that feel timeless and slightly magical, sort of like a storybook. This set is some of my favorites from our first trip here in 2020. Plus a few from 2021 while filming for Angelita (on my YouTube if you haven’t seen it). I love diving with him because it is usually some crazy idea that requires every bit of my freediving and modeling skills to make happen. Friendships that ask the best of me and always give the best of them have my heart♥️ #freedive #mexico

To be fair, I also cried in my car after playing pickleball the other day because a 70-year-old opponent gruffly told me I “might as well be asleep at the net.” I was so embarrassed I wasn’t at their level that I never went back. ???? So believe me: I get that trying new things is easier said than done. I still *frequently* feel silly, frustrated, or worried others are above my skill level. But maybe that’s the point. The fear, the awkwardness (in my imagination or otherwise), the bruises—they’re proof that we’re trying. Even as I’m in this weird phase where I’m “convinced” I’m not progressing at anything, I think making this video helped remind myself of just how many things I’ve taken on over the years. How those things at the time also felt hard. And how discovering what we’re capable of, in spite of it all (or perhaps because of it all?), feels like one of the most meaningful parts of being human. With love and courage - and I’ll be getting my butt back on the court tomorrow. Lots to still learn in this lifetime Xx

My partner and I were talking yesterday about one of the biggest lessons that’s made us more peaceful and genuinely happier: learning to not hold too tightly to experiences. He tends to do it with the past. Years ago, he had a meal in Portugal he always tells me about — baby squid, perfectly grilled, eaten at sunset — and since then he has been trying (and failing????) to find this same dish - slightly disappointed each time when it doesn’t live up to the memory of that one glorious meal. His nostalgia became a quiet barrier to joy. His reframe: → Can I simply be grateful that I got to have that experience, meal, connection, special weather conditions even if it never happens again? My tendency is to do it with the future. Before a trip I’ll imagine every detail — the people, the light, the feeling — and convince myself that this one will be magical. It comes from excitement (and from a desire to plan epic things for people I love!), but after a decade of traveling I’ve realized: it’s almost impossible to predict which trips end up being the most meaningful. And more often my expectations become tiny walls of resistance against the unexpected. My reframe: → Can I trust that this experience, meal, connection, weather conditions whatever is happening (or not happening) is also perfect and exactly right for this moment? Travel, to me, is a school for surrender. It teaches me not to idealize the past or control the flow of the present. Turns out the less I grip, the freer I feel - and that freedom has quietly changed how much of life I can enjoy, instead of resist.???????? — From the Albania archives with (photos by) @storiesmatter. ???????? A truly magical trip that will never be replicated and isn’t that beautiful ????❤️ Linked my swimsuit in stories ????

If I never come back this is where to find me :) Something I notice when I post stories of appreciation for each place I travel to is that people often write “wow I forgot how lucky I am to live here”. I think it’s human nature that we often get blinded to the specialness and splendor of the things closest to us. Our brains are incredible problem solving machines which also means - they are naturally GREAT at seeing problems. I catch myself doing this - the “oh but this could be better if..” mindset. I’m subconsciously saying “this is bad. This is not enough the way it is” which means my soul is living in scarcity. A simple practice when I notice I’m too in my judgement mindset - I pair each complaint or evaluation thought with a gratitude thought. Just noticing the world around me from that place shifts my whole energy in minutes sometimes seconds. Try it and I’m curious how it feels for you :) ????Bavaria Germany and Tirol Austria. Manifesting a 2-3 month stay here next summer if anyone wants to rent me their house im putting it out in the universe!☺️????

Wedding season????better ???? or ????? Reminiscing on @helenowen & @zackkalter’s dreamy storybook wedding in an old French chateau earlier this summer. PS: all photos from my phone via @phlowapp (which they created and I’ve been helping beta test for the next version. It’s SO good and not just saying that as their friend I actually pay for a subscription and get all my friends to use it????) First dress @reformation - best shopping experience of my LIFE. Just a dressing room of girls hyping each other. It was awesome ????Second dress @aya_sacredwear. I’ve had it for years and absolutely love it. Yay for outfit repeating on the regular.

Albania is one of my favorite (and most underrated) countries I’ve visited. Although neighbors Italy, Croatia, Greece are very well known and celebrated Albania gets a fraction of the tourism❤️ For decades, it was almost invisible on the travel map — years of isolation under communist rule, limited infrastructure, and a lingering reputation from its turbulent past kept people away. But places change and I feel SO lucky some of you encouraged me to see its beauty for myself. I loved the jars of honey sold on the roadside, how our host made veggie soup when I was sick, and how fruit stands still exist because locals actually stop to buy fruit. I loved the hazy mountain light, the impossibly turquoise (and ice-cold) rivers, and the effortless kindness everywhere… it still feels so refreshingly real. A bit rough around the edges, unpolished for sure…but real :) ???????? If you’re craving somewhere beautifully unexpected, comment ALBANIA and I’ll send you our full itinerary ???? A little bit of life lately????????????⛰️????????✨ in a season of being proud of where I’m at and who I am. Of choosing to connect more with friends, parents, the moment in front of me and film less. In a place of prioritizing sleep and (fun) movement as much as I can. Of being as discerning yet as honest as I can be. Of breathing before I respond and asking myself frequently “is this really a problem or is my brain just making this a problem?” In a season of being ok with the parts of me that are wholesome and the parts of me that are wild and the parts of me that want to work all the time and the parts of me that lay in a patch of sunlight for entirely too long because I’m reading a new book. In a space of loving them all. Of living and loving as best as I can - courageously, intentionally, free :) Quotes: the late and inspiring @andreagibson, note inspired by a video I saw from @bryanhynes Summer in Europe | Switzerland | Germany | slow living
