[富士宮 FUJINOMIYA, JAPAN ????????] ???? I had a brilliant stay on the weekend with my friend Mio @sfkw0713 and her parents in her hometown Fujinomiya in Shizuoka prefecture. They are the sweetest people, even though we sometimes get lost in translation and my poor friend had to keep translating English to Japanese and vice versa, they’ve tried to give me the best hospitality. Showing me photos of life in japan, telling me stories of the food in Fujinomiya and the economical changes in the Japanese society. Of course also, the Mount Fuji itself was actually in close proximity and I see it clearly in front of me from their house. . ???? Her dad and mum was excited for my arrival and decided to take out their prized possession (griddle) and perhaps show off some of the best Japanese food - Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki. Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake containing a variety of ingredients in a wheat-flour-based batter. It could be lettuce, bacon and even cheese! Takoyaki also known as octopus balls" is a ball-shaped Japanese appetiser. It is typically filled with diced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onion. These are Kansai delicacy (famous in Osaka, I find it interesting we are eating this in a different region!) and the funniest thing was we didn’t have octopus for the octopus balls! Her mum completely forgot to buy them so we improvised with kimchi, cheese, crab sticks ???? . ???? Happy to have stayed with the Kandas. Miss you all! ❤️ どうもありがとうございました❤️ . #londontravelblog #travelbloggervibes #londonblog #gltlove #travelblog #travelblogging #worldingram #britishblogger #travelpic #bossgirlblogger #under15k #girlslovetravel #travelgirls #travellersnotebook #instago #travelphotography #glt #ukblogger #travelbloggerlife #japantravel #okonomiyaki #fuji #fujinomiya #富士宮 #takoyaki #日本 #富士 #お好み焼き #たこ焼き #japanesefamily

[KYOTO, JAPAN ????????] ⛩Sure, you must have heard of Geishas, being a geisha is something that is still practiced today and you can surely see Geishas around the Gion district in Kyoto if you are lucky (I did!). But do you also know the difference between Geishas, Geikos and Maikos? . ⛩Basically, In Tokyo or everywhere around the world it seems, they're widely known as geisha, but in the Kyoto dialect, they're known as geikos. Let's get that away now. Now with Maikos, to simplify, a maiko is an apprentice geiko/geisha. She is a younger woman who is training in the arts of the geisha. An apprentice must train for at least a whole year before gaining the title of “geisha”, but it is often longer than that. . ⛩I am sure most of you have "Watching A Geisha Perform”on your bucket lists. Booking your own dinner or show with experienced geisha and maiko, is not impossoble but can be rather expensive. You could also just hire a maiko if you're looking for something more budget-friendly. . ‼️Insider Tip: Every year, the geisha districts in Kyoto holds a public Odori dance show where you can see geiko and maiko performing on the same stage! Tickets are affordable, starting from as little as £20 (compared to if you were to hire a private one for over £100) You can get tickets online, at convenience stores, or at the Tourist Information Center in Kyoto Station. Just be aware that these only happen around April/May time! . #londontravelblog #travelbloggervibes #londonblog #gltlove #travelblog #travelblogging #worldingram #britishblogger #travelpic #bossgirlblogger #under15k #girlslovetravel #travelgirls #travellersnotebook #instago #travelphotography #glt #ukblogger #travelbloggerlife #japan #舞妓 #花魁 #ukfoodblog #祇園 #gion #geisha #kyoto #京都 #日本 #japantravel

[KYOTO, JAPAN ???????? ] ⛩Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto, Japan, more formally referred to as Rokuon-ji or ‘Deer Garden Temple’ and otherwise known as ‘The Temple of the Golden Pavilion’, was first built in 1397 CE. BLING BLING BLING! . ⛩This is one of the most famous temples in Japan and a definite must-see! (If you don't mind the tourist around as well!) Why is it famous? The top two floors are covered in gold leaf. The first floor is built from natural wood and plaster. The temple was originally built as a retirement villa of a shogun, but became a Zen Temple in the 15th century. I particularly loved how the pond reflect the the gold on a nice sunny day. I mean it's also a typical tourist attraction so I suggest going at an earlier time to avoid the eager crowd! . ????????Did you know: You can also get a MATCHA ICE CREAM covered in GOLD LEAF whilst you're there. Of course yours truly has got one herself. I mean why not? Girls gotta eat (girls gotta take photos for her Instagram...) I did take some photos which I will share with you all as well. I am such a SUCKER for Matcha. . #londontravelblog #travelbloggervibes #londonblog #gltlove #travelblog #travelblogging #worldingram #britishblogger #travelpic #bossgirlblogger #under15k #girlslovetravel #travelgirls #travellersnotebook #instago #travelphotography #glt #ukblogger #travelbloggerlife #japan #ukfoodie #ukfoodblogger #ukfoodblog #londonfoodies #kinkakuji #金閣寺 #kyoto #京都 #日本 #japantravel

[KYOTO, JAPAN MINI GUIDE ???????? ] Kyoto, I must say could be a favourite of mine. But I could also complain about how hard it is to navigate around the city using public transport.. Kyoto was once the Capital of Japan and the emperor's residence from 794 until 1868. Fun fact, in Japanese (Kyoto, 京都) it actually means Capital City! Tokyo in Japanese, 東京 is now called, East Capital but previously named Edo, 江戸, meaning river entrance. So ultimately, Citizens of Kyoto are very proud of their heritage and the history. If you're a fan of East Asian history. Kyoto is where you need to be. . [Attractions????] Visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine, 伏見稲荷大社. is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. I am sure you have seen Instagram uploading these photos everywhere! Foxes are thought to be Inari's messengers, you'll notice the many fox statues across the shrine grounds. . [Quirky Attractions] Elegant kimono, smooth white make-up and the elegant aura —seeing a Geisha, Geiko and Maiko in Japan is easier now than ever. There are always opportunities to book your own dinner or show in the most famous Gion area, Kyoto’s geisha district. For more budget friendly experiences, you could even look for an experienced Geiko and Maiko. . [Food????] Kyoto is famous for its tofu, its sublime kaiseki cuisine and its Buddhist vegetarian fare. It's also a great place to sample all the main classics of Japanese cuisine. . [What to Bring Home?????] For girls, check out the brand Yojiya, they began to sell oil-blotting facial paper in 1992.They quickly became a favourite among geishas! For everyone else, ever heard of Matcha? I am sure you do, the health food that is up and rising! Purchase some matcha from Kyoto's Uji area where high quality teas like sencha, gyokuro, tencha, and matcha are produced! . #londontravelblog #travelbloggervibes #londonblog #gltlove #travelblog #travelblogging #worldingram #britishblogger #travelpic #bossgirlblogger #under15k #girlslovetravel #travelgirls #travellersnotebook #instago #travelphotography #glt #ukblogger #travelbloggerlife #japan #ukf
