I have high hopes for Cuban sandwiches outside of Miami. Happy to say Sunnyside has a solid one at @thealcoveny. All the right stuff: sweet ham, melty Swiss cheese, mustard, tangy pickles, and juicy lechon (roast pork) that’s done right and tastes like home.

Can’t go wrong with the chimichurri truffle fries either. ?

Too cold to bike this week, so an honorable mention to be included on the #bike4beers list is @alewifebrewing_taproom because it’s walking distance! Big things are definitely ahead for @alewifebrewing which opened their new brewery/taproom location in the midst of a pandemic. With rotating food vendors, and four packs to-go it’s a great spot to pick up food and drinks to bring home.

Vodka is so versatile - you can throw together a cocktail with just about anything you have. Plus it seems to be the most acceptable spirit to have before noon, hello bloody Marys and Screwdrivers.

Blackberry Lime Sparkler
10 blackberries
1.5 Tbs sugar
3-4 Mint Leaves (extra for garnish)
2 Oz @ournewyorkvodka
1.5 oz lime juice
Club Soda

Muddle blackberries, sugar, and mint in a shaker.
Add ice, vodka, lime juice.
Shake, shake, shake until chilled.
Strain over ice.
Top with club soda, garnish with mint and lime.

Took advantage of the “warmer” weather in the 40’s last weekend to walk over to @soempastries. This bakery tucked away on 39th Place- offers cupcakes, cake slices, and cake cups in a pretty big variety of flavors. By the time we got there in the afternoon the cup cakes were mostly sold out, so the word is spreading around Sunnyside how good it is. The double chocolate cup was as decadent as it sounds, and the tres leches cup has stolen my heart! #25forsunnyside #25forthesides.
