Ethiopia remained the top country with Hawi Feysa winning the Chicago Marathon in 2:14:57 and @tigist__assefa winning the London Marathon in 2:15:50 for a women’s-only marathon world record. Kenya stayed at No. 2 but claimed the world-leading time with @jepkosgei36’s 2:14:00 at the Valencia Marathon. Kenya had six women break 2:18 in 2025. The United States held steady at No. 4. The fastest time by an American woman in 2025 was @jesstonn’s 2:22:43 for 7th place at the Boston Marathon. NCAA Cross Country champion @habtom_samuel_ will make his road racing and half marathon debut at the Houston Half Marathon on Jan. 11th. Some notable entries on the women’s side: – Ethiopia’s Tsigie Gebreselama (No. 12 on the all-time list) is the top woman on paper with her 1:04:21 from last year’s Lisbon Half. – 2025’s U.S. half marathon champion @taylor.roe_ will run her third career half marathon. – @a_vestri , who also qualified for the Team USA for the World Road Running Championships before they were cancelled, is also entered.
