↠ 2021 Life Goals:

Since most of us were uprooted from our typical lives last year, I decided to do something pretty atypical

Molly & I have been working on converting this Dodge Sprinter into a livable space since the summer, right after our move back to New York. Living on the road was something I've been planning on doing for a couple years now, and as turbulent as last year was, it was the push I needed to get started

I found the van for sale in the middle of nowhere, ass-crack of North Carolina. It was a former American Red Cross mobile, in pretty good shape, and the perfect size (I’m 6ft tall, so van models were pretty limited). Drove it off the lot the same day and have been working on it ever since

We’ve made some major progress and cleared some huge hurdles so far. Here’s the breakdown:

1) Insulated 90% of the van
2) Installed the sub floor / vinyl flooring
3) Built & installed a queen size bed frame
4) Built & installed frames to house the sink, water heater, stove & refrigerator, and storage compartments underneath the bed
5) Lined 90% of the walls with cedar wood paneling
6) Wired & installed overhead LED lights
7) Built & installed the shower frame
8) Installed a roof fan to circulate fresh air

Next up is painting the body and interior, installing the counter tops, overhead cabinets, solar panels & appliances, and the van will be ready to roll

I’ll be documenting what we have left to do going forward so y’all can follow along. Here’s to van life ??

↠ spent yesterday morning watching these determined folks compete for King of the Ice. I’m always curious to learn what gets a person out of bed in the morning; to witness the drive these guys have to wake up at 4am, gear up and spend the entire day at the lake in freezing temps was majorly inspiring. congrats to all that competed, glad I was welcomed to capture some of the moments ??
