@kyle_maclachlan has had a grip on us for a long time. His name may mean different things to different people, but America knows the 66-year-old actor in its bones. Perhaps it’s because of the enduring lucidity of the Lynchian world our digital cover star brought to life with projects like ‘Blue Velvet’ and ‘Twin Peaks,’ which continue to resonate as portraits of a dissonant American psyche, now more unhinged than ever. Perhaps it’s because of his warm unknowability—the sense that, under the clean-cut proto maledom of his characters, something is “a little detached, a little clinical, with a few screws loose,” as @spaceprincejulio put it when the pair sat down for an Artists on Artists conversation. This gift for eerie duo-tone performance has served MacLachlan well over a career that spans decades and genres—starting with 1984’s ‘Dune,’ which catalyzed his relationship with David Lynch and American audiences, through to his memorable 21st-century appearances as Trey MacDougal in ‘Sex and the City’ and the mayor in ‘Portlandia.’ MacLachlan’s latest chapter features a turn in the grisly thriller series @falloutonprime, a recently launched podcast (@wawedwithkyle) spotlighting younger cultural fixtures like Kaia Gerber, Benito Skinner, and Dylan O’Brien, and a social media presence that’s earned him waves of new fans. Link in bio to read MacLachlan reflect on his zeitgeist-shifting with Torres, and order your copy of the Artists on Artists issue for more conversations like theirs today. 1/ Kyle MacLachlan wears a full look by @burberry. 3/ Blazer by @prada. Editor-in-Chief: @sarahgharrelson Fashion Editor-at-Large: @alipew Photography: @jack.bool Styling: @rebeccarams Grooming: @livio19 Executive Production: @nicoleprokes On-Set Production: @blairez Production Company: @blondprodn Animal Wrangling: @benaysbirdandanimal

“I be doing shit, I don’t know.” It’s easy to spot a @mmyhala character. They are forceful, driven, a little gruff. They are, in the 29-year-old actor’s own words, “unabashedly after [their] own success.” Whether it’s the adrenaline- and sex-fueled Harper Stern in the cult finance drama @industryhbo, or in her latest turn as Linda Page, an unknown journalist with everything to prove, in Gus Van Sant’s new crime thriller ‘Dead Man’s Wire,’ a Myha’la character captivates by skirting the knife’s edge between ego-trip and blind conviction. Ahead of the film’s release and the highly-anticipated drop of ‘Industry’ season four this weekend, she sat down with CULTURED for a chat about Farrah Fawcett blowouts, fighting with husbands, and staying hydrated. “Independent cinema in America is a farce.” The moment she said it, Kristen Stewart knew that quote would end up all over the Internet. “But it’s true,” she tells director Olivier Assayas in her cover story for CULTURED’s Artists on Artists issue. The actor would know—she has spent her life (the ‘Twilight’ series and a 2012 turn as Snow White aside) building up a staunchly indie filmography. Her forthcoming directorial debut, ‘The Chronology of Water,’ spent almost a decade in development limbo, a period during which she became well acquainted with Hollywood’s shrinking appetite for risky content. The adaptation of championship swimmer Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, which hits U.S. theaters on Dec. 5, is a deep dive into the long shelf life of trauma that forced the 35-year-old filmmaker to look to Europe for funding. “Every producer in town was like, ‘So what’s it about? A swimmer who gets r*ped by her father?’” she tells Assayas. “That’s just a hard no.” But Stewart isn’t done with the industry just yet. Next year, she’ll star in her wife Dylan Meyer’s directorial debut opposite Alia Shawkat. She’ll follow the film—her first comedy—with ‘The Challenger’—her first TV series—where she’ll play an astronaut on one of NASA’s first diversified missions in 1978. There’s also ‘Full Phil,’ where she’ll act as Woody Harrelson’s estranged daughter on a Paris trip gone awry. At the link in bio, Stewart and Assayas go deep on grit, the industry, and the enemy within. Preorder your copy of the second-annual Artists on Artists issue today. The @metmuseum is gearing up for a big year. Construction is set to break ground for the new Tang Wing for Modern and Contemporary Art, designed by Mexican architect @fridaescobedo, which will increase the wing’s current gallery space by nearly 50 percent; the first comprehensive exhibition in the U.S. of Italian Renaissance painter and architect Raphael will open in March; and the annual Met Gala will be co-chaired by none other than Beyoncé. The man overseeing it all, Austrian art historian and longtime museum leader @max.hollein, took the helm as director of the Met in 2018. Since then, he’s added the title of CEO, modernized its existing collection, and increased digital engagement and commissioning opportunities. He’s also become a recognizable face at galleries around the city: On weekends, the unabashed booster of contemporary art can often be spotted checking out pint-size spaces on the Lower East Side. Just before the holidays, he was able to squeeze in a conversation with CULTURED Arts Editor-at-Large @sophiacohen about what’s ahead for the institution, the 2026 Met façade commission, what a museum’s role should be today, and perhaps most importantly, what to order at the Met cafe. Three weeks ago, you had to be a regular at the South Beverly Grill or a part of LA’s underground clown scene to recognize @connorstorrieofficial. Now, he’s everywhere. The Texas-born actor has @heatedrivalrycrave to thank for that. Less than a month since it premiered, the show—and its costars, Storrie and @hudsonwilliamsofficial—have enjoyed the kind of ravenous word-of-mouth popularity that no marketing budget can buy. For 25-year-old Storrie, who was working 40 hours a week as a server in Los Angeles before booking ‘Heated Rivalry,’ the past few weeks have been “surreal.” There was no reason to think that an MM affair based on a romance novel by Rachel Reid and produced for a Canadian streamer would break through in the U.S.’s content-choked media landscape. “The more that I get recognized, the more that people stop me and know me by name,” Storrie tells writer @robfrank__ for the issue, “the more I’m like, ‘Okay, this is actually something.’” Ahead of the season one finale, click the link in bio to read Franklin’s full profile of Storrie, and pre-order CULTURED’s white hot Young Hollywood issue today. 1/ Connor wears a swimsuit by @gucci. 3/ Connor wears a cardigan, shirt, and trousers by Bottega Veneta. 6/ Connor wears a full look by @tomford and sunglasses by Tom Ford Eyewear. Editor-in-Chief: @sarahgharrelson Executive Editor: @maraveitch Director of Brand: @iangmalone Photography: @ccopp Words: @robfrank__ Styling: @jakesammis Styling Assistance: @natalieocampo_ Grooming: @ericka_verrett Production: @kristaworby Special thanks to @thegeorgian

As we settle into the reality of 2026, there’s perhaps no better artist to look to than Yuji Agematsu, whose art has marked years and made calendars for the last four decades. For the first Critics’ Table of this sun rotation, @john_vincler goes deep on a show he didn’t get to review in 2025: Agematsu at the @juddfoundation in New York, for which the artist was the building manager for over two decades. “A year is just an organized sequencing of days, a structuring of seasons,” Vincler writes. “Each day can offer its rewards through walking, looking, and paying attention to the fragments of interest and beauty that others might pass over and ignore. This is what I will take from Agematsu into 2026.” Link in bio to read the full review.

@monica_lewinsky is done letting the Internet have the last word. We caught up with the American lightning rod in Los Angeles to talk about what gets under her skin, what keeps her grounded, and why “fuckface” is a word she’s bringing into 2026. Three decades after the political scandal that made her “patient zero of losing a personal reputation on a global scale,” Lewinsky reflects on what it means to live (and heal) in public. In 1176, the Knights Templar built a compound called Domaine de La Cavalerie. Emanuel Ungaro acquired the crumbling ruin in 1985, immediately setting about refurbishing and replanting the grounds. The French couturier, who experienced 20th-century acclaim dressing bold-faced names including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Catherine Deneuve, had been searching for a sanctuary away from the bustling streets of Paris. La Cavalerie’s bones—which include the original La Commanderie building, as well as the 17th- century Bergerie and 160 acres of rolling hills, olive groves, and forests—fit the bill. After Ungaro’s death in 2019, his daughter, @cosimaungaro, and her husband, @austinfeilders, who run the creative agency Concept out of the French capital, took the reins. Filtering their forebear’s design legacy through 21st-century sensibilities, they introduced geothermal power, 1,000 more olive trees, and a vision for multi-purpose hospitality. At the heart of the estate, which can now be booked for stays or events, is a single, guiding principle: “shock and awe.” La Cavalerie’s library, tucked into the Commanderie building, is a living testament to this one–two–punch ethos. As immediately dazzling as it is laden with well-traveled references and hidden facets, the room distills Ungaro’s fearless craftsmanship and magpie-like sensibility. For CULTURED, the Domaine’s new stewards shine a light on a few of the hidden gems it contains—and the sui generis design philosophy they reveal. Link in bio to look inside.
