Beyond proud to have been part of creating Nezha, a brand new musical inspired by the legendary Chinese warrior god. This was such a special project for me working with a fully East & South East Asian cast for the first time, telling an Asian story that connects with my own Chinese heritage. Here’s a peek of some amazing show photos ???? @charles_flint_photography plus a few BTS moments ➡️ What we achieved in 2 and a half weeks workshop to create a full production with staging, costume, set & choreography for our 3 work-in-progress performances was incredible. With most of the storytelling done through song I had a great time choreographing dance & combat, as well as designing the movement language of the characters to Duncan Walsh Atkins’ epic musical score blending musical theatre with rap, rock, kpop & more! A big thank you to a dream cast who put so much heart & energy to bring our vision to life learning a huge amount of lyrics while executing different styles of dance or fight choreography! One is only as good as the talent to create with & it was joy to do so with you. Huge thanks to director Jennifer Tang for trusting me on this project and my assistant Marianna Neofitou for all your support. Amazing to be at the premiere of the UK Waacking dance documentary #BehindTheScene As part of the 1st generation of UK waackers, when I started Waacking I never anticipated being anything sort of a pioneer, I wanted to learn because I was curious and was suffering from an ankle injury so couldn’t train my other dance styles as much. I was invited to an intensive by @the_tda taught by @kumarisuraj and who knew 5 weeks later a few of us would be selected by Kumari to form the UK’s first Waacking Crew the @waacktitioners. We were tasked with spreading our joy for the freedom of expression this dance gave us and create an inclusive scene in the UK where everyone was welcome through performing, hosting events, classes and battles. We didn’t really know what we were doing or the impact we would eventually make but we had some incredible moments and it’s been heartwarming to see how the UK waacking scene has flourished and being even just a small part of that makes me feel proud. I continue to share my love of Waacking with a new generation of dancers by including the dance where I can in the projects I create. This documentary has been so well put together charting those days to the present and documenting a wonderful journey that is still continuing. I hope it gets the exposure it deserves and more of you will be able to revell in the fabulous freedom, inclusivity, expression and joy of Waacking. 3 elements: dance/movement motion capture, video design and aerial flying combined in a musical live performance in the Burning Man scene in the show ‘All In! I created where at giant desert sculpture designed in 3D using @unrealengine comes alive in video to tell a story & relationship, interacting & manipulating a live performer. A team makes a dream! Amazing to show the process of how we devised this groundbreaking theatre performance piece from the rehearsal studio, digitally and then to a moving ship. Eye line was really important when creating and capturing the movement of the giant hence using something as simple as a soda bottle to mimic where the aerialist was in space. India you were a treat had such a magical time in Jaisalmer from riding out to see the sunset over the Khuri desert sand dunes and sleeping under the clear starry night to visiting the famous 'Golden City' of Jaisalmer Fort and admiring the yellow sandstone architecture of the traditional havelis (mansions) and beautiful chhatris and shrines on Gadisar Lake in the heart of the Thar Desert, Rajasthan North West of India. Ed Sheeran @teddysphotos and Rupert Grint’s @rupertgrint first dance! Had so much fun working with these 2 choreographing their wedding dance in the music video ‘A Little More’. Was such a pleasure having two people so committed and up for it as it makes the narrative and comedy read that much more convincing. In this insanely epic new video, Harry Potter star Grint returns as Sheeran’s stalker 14 years on from the “Lego House” music video. After gets released from prison, Grint’s character tries to rebuild his life but he can’t seem to escape the singer he once obsessed over and is comically haunted by Ed Sheeran who appears everywhere as everyone, even his bride at at his wedding. With the video concept demanding over 250 different costume changes and a tight schedule, Ed and Rupert did an incredible job in the limited time I had with them to create and execute the moves in Rupert’s first wedding dance, where he performs with his bride which turns out to be Ed himself. We had a great time experimenting with movement and romance which shows in their performance. Thanks to Director Emil Nava for having me on this one. Backstreet’s Back but not as you know it! Had so much fun choreographing this 90s parody commercial featuring Brett Flair, an Only Fools and Horses Del Boy inspired singing and dancing character and his full backing boyband represented by a cowboy, a backflipping fisherman, a miner and a Greek God. In a pretty cool flashback to 90s music videos here’s some behind the scenes making of footage from rehearsals at @pineappledancestudios to filming at a market stall set in an aircraft hangar in Essex and clips of the final edit.
