BREAKING: This Whole Foods goat dairy has a secret and illegal graveyard of dead babies and mothers. When Sarah gave birth to her son Johnny, he struggled to nurse as her udders grew inflamed and painful. She knew that as long as they remained there, he would never be safe. Thankfully, kind people stepped in and carried them to safety. Ask the authorities to shut down Meyenberg’s Vera Goat Dairy at dxe.io/HelpTheGoats

Yesterday was a bit of a rough day in court. The judge ruled two different sets of documents will not be admissible, though I will still be able to talk about how some of that information influenced my intent when I went into slaughterhouse. The prosecutors have also subpoenaed two of my fellow activists in an attempt to force them to testify against me as rebuttal witnesses. We go back to court on Monday for trial to really kick off with opening statements in front of the jury. #PerdueTrial #RightToRescue

We officially have a jury. While we have technically been in trial for 3 weeks, it hasn’t truly felt real until now. Every juror is coming into this case with different life experiences, biases, and worldviews. It is impossible to predict how they will interpret the facts of this case, but I hope that they will consider the chickens and what they were facing if they had stayed at Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse. #PerdueTrial #RightToRescue

The prosecutors are warning the potential jurors that they may see disturbing images of chickens so that they can gauge their reactions. They want to weed out people who may be sympathetic to the animals or take issue with a large company like Perdue. Jury selection will continue tomorrow afternoon. #PerdueTrial #RightToRescue

BREAKING! The Wisconsin Veterinary Examining Board just voted to suspend the license of Dr. Richard Van Domelen, the primary veterinarian at Ridglan Farms. He has come under scrutiny in recent months after it came to light that he was instructing unlicensed staff members at Ridglan to perform painful surgeries on dogs without proper anesthesia or training. Ridglan Farms is a factory farm that breeds beagles for experimentation. Direct Action Everywhere investigated Ridglan in 2018, exposing the company for keeping dogs in small, unsanitary cages. Today’s decision comes after 6 months of investigations by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) which found Domelen has been committing violations for 17 years. DATCP is also referring 311 violations at Ridglan to the District Attorney’s office. The Dane County Board of Supervisors is urging DATCP to revoke Ridglan’s license to operate. The Animal Activist Legal Defense Project (@aaldp_du), @dane4dogs, @allianceforanimalswisconsin and @thesimpleheart_ have all played a crucial role in this morning’s victory for these animals.

These 13 documents are causing a lot of drama in the courtroom. They show condemnation data from Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse. The judge will likely rule on their admissibility sometime next week. On Monday, the over 130 remaining prospective jurors will be coming in for the start of voir dire. #PerdueTrial #RightToRescue

VICTORY! After facing pressure from @dxe_portland, Bistecca Woodfire Steakhouse has agreed to phase out foie gras. Foie gras is made with the fatty liver of ducks and geese who are cruelly force fed. Foie gras has been outlawed in many places across the globe due to the abuse involved in its production. We’re happy to see that Bistecca Woodfire Steakhouse has finally done the right thing. Huge thank you to @dxe_portland and all the activists who helped achieve this win for the animals.

Yesterday was the first day of voir dire which is when the judge, the prosecution, and the defense all get to ask questions of the potential jurors. A few people have already been excused for cause because they had indicated they could not be impartial. Voir dire will continue this afternoon. #PerdueTrial #RightToRescue
