Honored to celebrate World AIDS Day and learn from being in community with women fighting stigma and supporting people living with HIV/AIDS. This was such a special night for me because it centered the country where I was born, Kenya. As a direct result of colonialism and economic oppression Africa has been disproportionately affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. As a result of racial and systemic oppression two populations that have also been disproportionately affected include cisgender Black Women and Transgender Black Women in the United States. We must put an end to these trends by fighting stigma, raising awareness and normalizing testing and treatment. Here’s what I have learned about what we can do. “Take the Rights Path: My Health My Right”. Know your status. Fight stigma. Be in solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS and continue to support initiatives and organizations transitioning HIV to a chronic manageable illness. A great organization to support is the @maishaproject because not only do they support people living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya, they also empower young girls by providing access to resources and education. It doesn’t get any better than that. Please visit @maishaproject and consider making a donation to support their efforts to end HIV/AIDS for good. I am also exploring the work of @translawcenter which is a multidisciplinary organization that supports the safety and advancement of trans people. Most of all, unlearning transphobia and anti-blackness eliminates barriers to community, solidarity and support. ❣️ Please share any additional informational resources or effective organizations to support.

Happy 2025!!! ???? Ringing in the New Year at @omnipgafriscoresort was the perfect way to set the tone for 2025. Although we originally planned to play a round of golf and to visit the spa we ended up hanging out at the bar drinking one of the best crafted mocktails I’ve had so far. The facilities and service are superior and we will definitely be back. The highlight of my night was trying @drinkbrez for the first time. I got the best buzz with no alcohol or hangover and had an amazing safe night. Hope you had a safe NYE, to 2025!
