Oliver Bierhoff playing for Udinese in 1997-98. The German striker played 3 seasons with I Bianconeri from 1995 to 1998 before moving to AC Milan. He'll score 62 goals in 96 games for Udinese, becoming Serie A top scorer in 1997-98 with 27 goals (ahead of Ronaldo with 25 and R. Baggio with 22) and helping Udinese to end the season in 3rd position, behind Juventus and Inter. - @serieaoperazionenostalgia @seriea @udinesecalcio #udinesecalcio #bierhoff #oliverbierhoff #seriea #serieaoperazionenostalgia #calcio #football #footballnostalgia #soccer #futbol #futebol

Alebrijes de Oaxaca Football Club are a Mexican team based in the city of Oaxaca. They play in the second tier of the Liga de Expansión MX. Founded in 2012, the team was named after the "alebrijes", which are brightly coloured sculptures, carved out of wood and painted with Zapotec patterns, depicting animals, people, objects and imaginary creatures. The biggest inspiration can be seen on their shirt, which show intricate patterns, designs and bright colours. I'm usually a fan of simple designs but these shirts caught my attention, they're loud and super busy with sponsors, colours and shapes. Every single one of them is a little gem! - #alebrijes #oaxaca #mexico #football #soccer #calcio #futbol #futebol

23 November 2002. It's a rainy saturday night at the Camp Nou and Barcelona and Real Madrid are playing El Clasico. It's Luis Figo's second match at the Camp Nou since leaving Barcelona, the first one was in October 2000 for a league game and those 2 years inbetween didn't make Barcelona fans forget. In July 2000 Figo made a controversial move from Barcelona to their bitter rivals Real Madrid, becoming the new focus of the El Clasico rivalry. The hate he received from Barça fans was due to his status as star player at the Camp Nou, reliable and always committed to the cause. So, on that rainy night in 2002, the 100'000 blaugrana fans made sure they would show him how much they felt betrayed. They threw objects everytime Figo was taking a corner and forced the referee to suspend the game for 16 minutes. Amongst all the objects, one in particular stood out: a severed pig's head was lying on the grass. That was a really extreme way of calling their once beloved player a pig, a traitor, to make him understand that they'd never forget what he did to them. Fun (-ish) fact: the pig's head was displayed as part of the German exhibition "Cult Scene Stadium" in 2004, preserved in a jar.  - #luisfigo #elclasico #realmadrid #barcelona #mesqueunclub #football #calcio #soccer #fútbol #futebol #footballfacts

Forest Green Rovers are a football club from Nailsworth, England and they play in the League Two. More than anything else, they're famous for being the first and only vegan football club and the first to be certified as carbon neutral by the United Nations. In 2017 FIFA described them as "the greenest football club in the world" and for a lot of cool reasons: The entirely club is powered by 100% green energy from Ecotricity, some of which they generate themselves with solar panels on their stadium. The grass they play on is sustainable, free from pesticides and weed killers. They cut the grass with a GPS-directed, solar-powered lawnmower. They collect rainwater that lands on the stadium and use it to irrigate the pitch. Since 2011 they have been measuring their carbon footprint, and reduced by 30% between 2017 and 2019. Their 2021-22 shirts are made from 50% bamboo, significantly reducing the club's reliance on plastic. They even released a special edition home shirt, made from coffee grounds and recycled plastic.
