This week (and a few more to come!) 20 photographers and artists who graduated in 2020 will have their work displayed on digital billboards across the UK. In London, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds and more, we hope you get to see some of their work on display.

Recent graduates and current students have had a particularly hard time this past year, our thoughts are with everyone who couldn’t celebrate finishing their degrees last year and with current students finishing their degrees from home.

Free Range hopes to announce future plans for any events soon when safe to do so.

Big thanks to @clearchanneluk for partnering with us on this project, let us know if you spot any of the amazing work on show!

Hello! It’s @noemi.filetti for my last day of Instagram takeover! Today, I decided to share for the first time some of the work I am currently shooting.
At the end of February, I came back to my hometown in Italy aiming to do my graduation final project. As you can guess, my original plans had to change, but this surreal situation opened me the door to develop a much more personal series.
As Italy went into full lockdown, I moved to my paternal house where I haven’t lived for the last four years. Instead of documenting the quarantine itself, I decided to focus on my relationship with this place and use photography as a therapeutic and reflective process to re-elaborate my past and present.
I have realised that by deliberately connecting together pictures which are not immediately related, I could create a narrative conveying the feeling of fragmentation and nostalgia that most of us are experiencing in this surreal situation.
I am thinking to call this series “This Transient Time”, but this project is definitely still in progress. Let’s see where it will take ?? I really hope you enjoyed this takeover and, please, do not hesitate to dm me if you have any question, comment, or you just want to talk about photography (always happy to do so!). I will see you at Free Range 2020, where I will exhibit with @chromacollective_!
Can’t wait for it.

Good evening! @noemi.filetti here again sharing some more images from my series Samothraki Palingenesis.
I took these pictures during my stay in a new established off-the-grid community based on the small Greek island of Samothraki. Years of unsustainable farming practices, alongside a general exodus of the population, have led to neglect severe land erosion and degradation. This newborn grassroots organisation started to build a self-sufficient community aiming to regenerate the land with the help of volunteers coming from all over the world.

Hi! @noemi.filetti here for the day #4 of this takeover!
Today I am going to share some pictures from my personal project Samothraki Palingenesis which is a series I shot during a stay in a self-sufficient community in the Greek island of Samothraki.
I consider my photography a social practice and I love to develop projects in which I am in close contact with people. Therefore, I am very passionate about working with communities, immersing myself in new environments and becoming part of them.
We are all a bit nostalgic these days and it is a great time to look back at our most loved projects, we will be able to do more of them.

I’ll tell you more details about this series in the next post, stay tuned!

Hello! I am @noemi.filetti and I’ll exhibit with @chromacollective_ at Free Range 2020!
Today, I start with sharing some portraits that I have taken in the Brooklyn neighbourhood of Crown Heights where I lived last summer for three months.
I did not know anyone when I moved there and the place was completely new to me. Making portraits of my neighbours became soon a routine to familiarise with my surroundings, allowing me to know the local community and the new place I was living in.

Hello again! @noemi.filetti here sharing my second post of the day! In the next few posts I am showing some portraits that I have taken during my stay in New York last summer.
I am mainly a film photographer and I particularly enjoy to make portraits using waist level cameras. Personally, I believe that by eliminating the barrier of the camera in front of my eyes I can connect better with the person I am photographing. Furthermore, while many people feel uncomfortable in front of a digital camera, it always happens to me that when I carry a medium format film camera around, people often stop me asking if they can have a portrait taken. I find this contrast extremely interesting, I believe that people feel empowered when they realise that there is a slower and longer process behind making them a portrait.

Look at the stories for some awesome portraits from other practitioners!

Hi folks! Here @noemi.filetti for my day #2 of Instagram takeover.
In this first post, I am sharing the last images of my cameraless series Diàlogos, which I really hope you enjoyed!
Most of the prints I have shared have been made by leaving coated sheets of paper outdoor for several hours, often overnight. While I started by using the traditional cyanotype recipe, I then started to change the chemicals proportions and play with multiple layers of coatings.
The traces left on paper often come from foliage, water and dew which remained imprinted during the exposing time.
By washing the prints in water, the images are fixed on paper; however, most of my prints are unwashed, or partially washed, so that the iron salts in the solution keep on oxidizing, resulting in a continuous shift of colour overtime.
I really hope you enjoyed this work and it made you more interested in the huge cameraless world and the endless possibilities within it!

In the next posts, I will be back to “more traditional” photography, stay tuned!

Hello again! @noemi.filetti here with my second post of the day.
These prints are part of my series Diàlogos, which is the result of my recent interest in cameraless processes.
Diàlogos is the Greek word for dialogue; the term stems its roots in διά (dia: through) and λογος (logos: speech, reason). In ancient Greek, the prefix ‘dia’ always indicates a contrast; as diametro which, in a circle, is the distance between two opposite points.
I have been fascinated by this term as a representation of the human experience with nature, a relationship containing a contrast which swings between conciliation and fight without ever being resolved.
This work is my attempt to represent this relationship. Through the cyanotype process, I make camera-less prints leaving coated sheets of paper to expose outdoors, where they are subjected to the action of natural agents.
Therefore, I renounce the control of what remains exposed on paper and I turn the working process in a dialogue with nature, in which multiple divergent counterparts contribute to its creation.
