We’re heartbroken to share that we’ve lost our home and all our belongings. We are not alone in this devastating loss, as most of our neighbors, too many of our friends, and thousands of Angelenos are in the same nightmarish situation. We are so grateful and moved by everyone’s love and support during this incredibly difficult time. While we’d like to respond to everyone, our top priorities have included: - creating a sense of safety for our children - calming our nervous systems - rebuilding our life one day at a time I could share a literal video of our house burning, the ashes that remain, or the complete decimation of our entire community (school, library, grocery store, dance studio, karate dojo, etc.)… Yet I want to share this sweet video instead. We lost our home and everything in it, but we are safe. We have each other and together we share the most beautiful, love-filled memories of our blue house with the blue door. I’m on my second read through of Thank You, Cancer. ???? It’s a beautiful reflection of my friend’s (@herewearehq) heartwarming/heartbreaking 5 year battle with cancer. Her widower, @dannylesslie, did a phenomenal job honoring Raffi’s legacy by sharing an intimate look into their experience while weaving in her words, journal entries, and photos. I’m so glad her daughters, Rue and Ace, will have these stories to hold onto to help them remember what a joyful, spirited, and inspiring woman their mother was. Although Raffi died on 12/12/24, her spirit remains alive and accessible though this book - and that is the greatest gift we could ask for, besides having Raffi here. Thank you, Danny, for your honesty and vulnerability. Thank you for your hard work. It feels good to laugh and cry simultaneously - I know it must have been hard to write. Today is 6 months from the Palisades Fire and there have been countless tragedies since… floods, fires, earthquakes, crashes, shootings, bombings, kidnappings… - it’s almost too much to bear. Each of these events absolutely breaks my heart (again and again) but they all remind me to stay present, be kind, and be grateful. Life is so precious. Too precious.
