Today’s #FrankLloydWrightFridays illustration is by @minilemoncake—“I admire the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, and I hope to be able to visit the museum someday. All I can rely on now are photographs, which convey the sophistication and quintessence of the poetic architecture. A view of the Guggenheim from the busy streets of New York City is definitely an experience to behold!”

#WorkoftheWeek: For this work, artist Sarah Charlesworth masked the text from the Herald Tribune front pages over the course of the month, leaving solely the photographs and masthead behind. The remaining images show repeating coverage of war, government leaders, diplomatic events, and other geopolitical subjects, revealing how the writing and recounting of history prioritizes constructions of violence and white masculinities.

Happy birthday to Franz Kline, who was born #OnThisDay in 1910! ?
⠀
Kline scored his success in the early 1950s with large canvases onto which he applied black and white commercial paint with housepainter’s brushes. He became known as an Action painter because his work expressed movement and energy, emphasizing dynamic line. The characteristic black slashes of “Painting No. 7” (pictured) suggest Kline’s fully body movement as he spontaneously applied the paint.
