The Muny kicked off its summer season with Bring It On, a high-energy musical that blends fierce cheer routines, humor, and heart. As a fan of the original film, seeing it come to life on stage brought back a wave of nostalgia. The show has been updated to make it more suitable for younger audiences, though I was surprised one of my favorite cheers—“Brrr, it’s cold in here!”—was left out. Still, the production didn’t disappoint. With dazzling choreography and a talented cast, it delivered plenty of laughs and spirit. The story captured the excitement, drama, and camaraderie that made the film a teen classic, while embracing a fresh, modern feel. It was a perfect way to spend the evening surrounded by the beauty of Forest Park. From the moment the music started, the audience was all in—we laughed, clapped, and cheered right along with the performers. Chicago was an incredible, entertaining show! You will be absolutely blown away by this performance filled with dancing and amazing storytelling. The cast did a phenomenal job, perfectly capturing the characters and the comedic aspects of the musical. The set was so unique, allowing the audience to see the orchestra as they play, with very minimal costuming. The show nailed the aesthetic they were trying to display perfectly and it immersed the audience into the performance. Absolutely recommend if you are looking for a hilarious and entertaining night!
