Here’s how!!!! ????This ruined me to be honest. The Cotswold Way in England is one of the best experiences of my life! No camping and no hauling your luggage. And amazing meals! I loved it so much I did another walk (Stevenson’s trail in France) and now… I’m doing another! Here’s what really changed my life: Long-distance walking gave me a passion I never knew I had. I became stronger mentally and physically. And yes, I do this completely solo. 12 years ago on the exact day I finished, I was in a wheelchair wondering what my future held. Last year I walked over 100 miles through fairy tale villages and ended at Bath Abbey feeling like I could conquer the world. Your transformation doesn’t have to be 100 miles. It just has to begin. ‼️Comment “INFO” for my training plan and guide! ???? Follow @heleneinbetween for more epic walks! #cotswolds #cotswoldway #thecotswolds #sheisnotlost #thruhike

I DID IT. ONE MILLION FOLLOWERS On instagram. No it’s not about the numbers but I did want to take a moment to celebrate and thank you (I promise I will do a big giveaway, I just truly have to wrap my head around this) This didn’t happen over night. This took work. A lot of work, actually. But you know what, I am proud. To think I started sharing my life on Instagram when I fell rock climbing and broke my ankle and leg to moving abroad to walking the Cotswold Way to hosting river cruise trips. It’s been amazing. I am truly beyond thankful for you. I tear up writing this. I can’t believe this happened. My whole mission is simple — to show you that the life you keep telling yourself is “someday” is actually possible. Right now. For you. This is incredibly serendipidous as tomorrow is my free workshop on growing your Instagram. It’s free but you do have to sign up. Just comment “workshop” and you’ll get my free ebook (literally all my strategies) and access to the free workshop. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being here. I cannot believe this is my life. ????

Why⬇️⬇️ Fun fact: in the UK, children under 16 aren’t even legally allowed to do door-to-door collections. So even if they wanted to do Girl Scout cookies... they couldn’t. Here’s what I learned living in Europe for years — the concept of kids selling cookies door to door just doesn’t exist there. And it’s not because they don’t have scouting. There are Girl Guide and Scout organizations across 39 European countries with over a million kids involved. The difference is how they’re funded. In Europe, youth organizations are supported through membership dues and government funding. In France, scouting organizations can be officially recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In Germany, they have over 260,000 Scouts and Guides and none of them have ever sold a cookie. In the US, the Girl Scout cookie program is designed as an entrepreneurship program. Kids learn sales, goal setting, financial literacy. There are badges called Cookie CEO and Business Plan. It’s a $800 million a year operation. What’s interesting is even the countries that DID try cookie-style sales are moving away from it. New Zealand stopped their Girl Guide biscuit sales in 2019 because the time commitment was actually becoming a barrier to girls joining. Australia discontinued theirs in 2021. And in the UK, children under 16 can’t even legally do door-to-door collections. The EU also has strict regulations around children and commercial activity. So the whole regulatory environment makes it a nonstarter in most of Europe. Neither approach is wrong. Just different. And honestly I think that’s what makes travel so interesting — realizing that things you grew up thinking were universal are actually very cultural. ????Honestly I want a cookie CEO badge.

The culture shock is real⬇️⬇️⬇️ I’ve lived in multiple countries in Europe for many years and these things I still can’t get right! ???? I smile at strangers. In Germany this made people think I was either unwell or trying to sell them something. Apparently resting nice face is strictly American. ????️ I’m loud. Not yelling. Just... American loud. We just speak loudly. I swear Europeans are whispering at dinner. ⏰ I expect things to be open. Sundays. Holidays. 9pm on a Tuesday. The European concept of “closed for lunch” and “see you Monday” still shocks me me. ???? I want to pay and leave. That check isn’t coming unless you flag someone down, make direct eye contact, and possibly send a formal written request. Europeans savor the meal. I have places to be. ???? I talk to everyone. The barista. The person in line. The guy at the next table. In Europe people looked at me like I’d just asked for their social security number. ???? I need free refills. Paying €4 for a Diet Coke the size of my fist? Every time? This one still hurts. The truth? I love both the USA and Europe and my heart is I’m not!! #cultureshocks #expat #lifeabroad #sheisnotlost

My dog turns 13 today. She’s been to more countries than most people. ???? Here are her favorites. She’s very clear about her rankings. I can tell you, she hates Luxembourg. And number 1 is a clear winner. Making this was harder than I thought. Millie (and Hugo, who we lost last September ????) have been to so many amazing places…over 20 countries together. One thing’s for sure: her tail has never stopped wagging in all 13 years. Europe made that easy. Restaurants, trains, Christmas markets… dogs are welcome everywhere. ???? ????If you’re curious how we moved our dogs overseas, I can do a video on that next! Let me know! Highly recommend checking out @themeldemi for traveling with a dog info!
