Standout projects making waves around the web

This Week in Houston Ballet History ✨ Before Houston Ballet became a professional company, it was a thriving academy led by the visionary Tatiana Semenova. Trained by the legendary Russian ballerina Matilda Kchessinska, Semenova danced with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and the Paris Opera Ballet until a wartime stage accident ended her performing career. In 1955, she founded the Houston Ballet Academy, mentoring generations and shaping the foundation of the Houston Ballet we know today. She also choreographed Enigma in 1959, a collaboration with the Houston Symphony that showcased the artistry soon to define our company. From the stage to the studio, Semenova’s legacy lives on in every dancer she inspired. ???? #HoustonBallet #FromTheArchiveFriday #BalletHistory #DanceLegacy
